sorry, I found it interesting. seems the team is really trying to regain what possible respect back that they had since spygate.

The topic and even what he said was interesting, but there is no way in Hell he ever motivates a football team with that speaking style. I'm sure his talks to the team before the Super Bowl won't be given like that.

So I read in an article on NPR that Bellichick is now claiming that the balls deflated due to the change in temperature from the warm locker room to the cold outside. For those who are curious, I did the math. According to the universal gas law PV=nRT, assuming a 4.2 L football inflated to 12.5 psi in a 77oF locker room, it would have had to be 8.6oF outside to explain a 1.5 psi drop in pressure due to the temperature change alone. Weather Underground [facebook.com] shows that it was in the low 50's during the time of the game so Bellichick is full of crap.

there is more to the equation than just straight temp to temp exchange. as the bunny stated, look at my conference from Belichik. conditioning the ball, atmospheric pressure, etc.

guarantee he doesn't act that way in the locker room. how could this team be relevant since he took the reigns if this was his attitude BEHIND the scenes?

Yeah someone else mentioned that the ball was rubbed down or something and that the heat may have expanded the leather and caused the internal pressure of the ball to drop. I worked out the math on that one too. With a temperature drop from 77 F to 51 F, the total volume of the ball would have had to expand by 8% (from 4.20 L to 4.535 L) in order to explain a 1.5 psi drop. Do you really think rubbing a ball could expand the volume of the football by that much?

rub your junk and see how much it expands in that process

but seriously. rub your hands together. that would be a similar transfer of temp from hand to real pig leather onto a football. and therefore transfer to a higher PSI.

I seriously SERIOUSLY doubt that short of the Hulk or maybe the Flash, anyone could rub their hands on a football fast enough to expand its total volume by 8%.
