Did you check regular T by the tuna and canned meats? At ST they were on the bottom shelf. HTH

Thrifty...I love your signature...but it brang back some frusterations from last night and now I must vent!

I saw a friend last night that I haven't seen in like 5 years...her family is struggling pretty bad money wise right now and I was like wow, she would be the perfect candidate to share my deals with as I am obsessed and dh is pretty tired of hearing about it!

So I start by asking her about her coupon usage....nope, doesnt normally use them...so I start to show her my stockpile(which is pretty small compared to most i'm sure...most of it fits in 1 big box and 2 boxes reams of paper fits into)...and she is just amazed....and she grabs a bottle of he and was like I want this!!! It kind of irritated me....not b/c I don't like to share but b/c she didn't even ask just grabbed it, thought it was kind of rude. So I tell her she can get a bunch of stuff for free or cheap with using q's etc...and she looks at me and just says I'm too lazy...you do it and I'll come get stuff from you...It took all of my strength and willpower to not scream WTF??? at her, but I maintained and just laughed it off. I also gave her some Jane makeup I had gotten for free/cheap from Walgreen's...this time I was smart...I didn't let her little grabby hands near it, just ran in the other room grabbed a couple of things and gave them to her.

So it amazes me that people are more than willing to take my free sh*t but won't put the effort into getting their own.

I am extremely generous and part of the reason my stockpile is so small is I give more away than I keep...I love helping my mom out...and *gasp* she was even going to buy a sunday paper this week!!!

Thanks for all the advice on the kiddo.....today we went to Walgreen's and I had a ton of stuff to get...so i prepared...got a book for her, some milk, a snack, her bear...I was like ok got plenty of stuff for her to do maybe we can make it through this one!!!

Uh no. Thankfully the cashier is my friend...but I had to stop every 30 seconds to say caitlin no! caitlin get back here! caitlin don't touch!! She's not bad per say...she's just really full of energy and is very strong willed.
OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That would seriously piss me off!!!

Wow!! I thought I stumble upon the baby talk lounge. Confused The last 5 pages have been about pregnacy and childbirth. I hope we don't scare away the guys with all this talk.

Men don't understand the pressure and stress with the 9-month process. One time during labor and I was screaming, my DH said, "Don't scream too loud because people are sleeping." Mad It's my right to scream bloody murder... I am the one suffering here...
Haven't scared me, having gone through two c-sections (both non-scheduled, so we got the "best of both worlds" in terms of having a few hours of [difficult] labor and then a major surgery, yay!).

I totally sympathize (and some would say, have a headstart on empathizing as well, since I had a major gall bladder attack, followed by a little trip to the OR of my own) with you ladies, and give major props and respect to you for going through nine months of pregnancy and then what can be a very frightening and painful (but also very beautiful and wonderful) labor experience.

Funny story about my DW, with our second DS (he just turned two on the 13th). When she was in labor (her water broke in the boys' clothing section of our local Wal-Mart...she couldn't have waited until we got to Target, ha ha), and the L&D nurses were trying rather unsuccessfully to get an IV started, I was standing by with a damp washcloth to wipe her forehead and face, and she GROWLED at me to "rub her face hard, NO HARDERRR!!!" and being the good and attentive husband I am, I complied.

She had a huge "rug-burn" looking rash type thing on her cheek for several days after delivery. Hey, she TOLD me to do it...she ORDERED me to do it---and, as you know, I am NOT an asshat!!!

No I agree I'm trying hard to do more recycling and stuff. This is also the reason I LOVE my steam cleaner. Not only do I think it works bettwe on chemicals on my floor and in the bathroom it also just uses steam to clean and a washable towel on it with the steam for the floor. No chemicals into the environment no empty chemical bottles into the landfills and I save money how can it get any cooler. Oh hot steam removes kid sticky mess sooo well to disolves stuff like jelly off the floor lol. I highly recommend them I got it when my baby was in the crawling stage because I didn't want to use harmful chemicals on my tile floors and have him crawl on it. So glad I made the switch. That said I'm not sure if Target sells them or not lol

Are you talking about that thing that's on infomercials and QVC and stuff? I saw something that sounds like what you're describing recently during my insomnia-induced late night tv/early morning advertising watching and was really interested in picking one up specifically for the lack of chemicals and the washable cloth pad.

If that's the one you're talking about, can you tell me the name? I might just order one online or see if I can pick one up on fleabay. I really heart the idea of it.

*snip*
This guy's wacky sense of creativity reminds me of Todd Oldham back when he did segments for MTV's House of Style (anyone even remember that? Back when Cindy Crawford was still a supermodel? Rofl2) and he made some craaazy stuff.
I have the Shark, have for two years now and really, really love my steam cleaner. Mine cleans floors (love a steam mop--I will NEVER swiffer again!), counters, windows, sinks, toilets, etc. I've even gotten spilled pancake batter out of couch cushions (don't ask) and kool-aid out of beige carpet using the steamer and a rag. Target sells them too....

And since I've been gone for awhile, let me be the last to say....WHEE!!!!! hugheartheartheartheartheartheart

My second try at something resembling an envelope looks kind of like, um, an envelope. LMAO It has a flap that I want to throw a little piece of velcro on, and then it'll actually be functional. It's still just a pouch, but I can actually use this to replace one of the paper envelopes I've been using to hold all my q's in my purse. The paper envelopes have been getting replaced every month or so as they've worn and torn from being dug in all the time. Hopefully this will last longer, and will keep me from using more envelopes than I have to.laugh out loud
Great job. Okay, i'm ready to try. I think I'll go fuse plastic while my girls are in the tub, then maybe I'll get it sewn (yes, I actually sew, I just have to unbury my sewing table) after I clip coupons (priority tonight).

Yea...it pretty much did. At the time I was kind of shocked. A little more background..I was at a b-day party up the street when she got here....so she texts me saying her kid has to go to the bathroom..i said ok well it's open go ahead...b/c i know what its like when your kid has to go!! so i get here like 5 minutes later...and her kids had already helped themselves to chips...which no biggie but I would never let my kid do that!!

So she's here for about two hours..and mentioned going out to eat several times (in between telling me how broke she is) so i was like no way am i going out to eat and getting stuck with the bill...i gave the kids all snacks and she starts saying her stomach hurts b/c she hasn't eaten and the excedrin I gave her is upsetting her stomach...I said well I don't have much b/c I have to go grocery shopping...but you can see if there is any snacks in the fridge you like...next thing i know she's asking me where my can opener is....i was like wtf??? she says oh i want some spaghettio's...i was just like whatever at this point.

I think we were just raised in very different households and I would never take my child or myself to someone's house that I haven't seen in 5 years and just literally make myself at home...am I just being b*tchy or does anyone else think this is out of the ordinary behavior??

I have a new addiction when it comes to Target...it's called NACHO COMBO. For two dollars, just two dollars, you get a whole serving of nachos and a drink: you can go ahead and get an ICEE: you just won't get a round lid. If you really want the round lid, you can pay like 15 cents more.

The nachos are wonderful, sure, it's not premium thick milk cheese like at a mexican restaurant, but it has a unique flavor that I am sure many people enjoy. The cheese is always gooey and warm and the chips are pretty good. The nachos by themselves are $2 and the Icee/soda is at least $1.29 in most Targets, so you save a whole dollar.

My favorite icee flavor to get is WHITE CHERRY FROST: so delicious. I hope some of you go out and get this. If you want to be even cheaper, the popcorn combo is only $1 and you also get the icee or soda with it. The pop corn varies in quality, sometimes it is really really good, but sometimes it is gross [too much salt? too much oil? or just old?] More than likely, it'll be pretty good..

The nachos combo has a DCPI, if you want to make sure your Target has it, next time I buy it I'll post the actual number....when you put it in the computer..it shows as $1.99 so if you want to haggle, you can save a whole cent.

Ours has this, the hot dog combo(which 2 of my kids love) and the chicken combo, and also some kids combos for $2 also which includes hot dog or chicken, organic chips and organic milk. We were going for the kid smeal until I seen the organic and I was not sure if my kids would like it so we just went for the regualar. They loved and it kept them mighty busy thorugh most of our trip except for the "usual" bathroom" run! ANd best of all was pais for by a Target gift card! Gotta love that!

Not sure how long you have been friends, but I would ditch her in a hurry. I can not tolerate people who take advantage and leech off of others. I really hate it when people do it to me, because we have a large family, I am a college student, and we live off of...$22,000/year...so I do what I can to make it work, use Q's, shop second hand, whatever it takes. So if some lazy @ss came along and tried to mooch off me I would put a stop to it real quick.

Yeah, I agree!

I have a "friend" who is a little like that. She's not so much as my friend, but she's friends with my dad. It's kind of weird, since she's my age.... but whatever, that's not the point.

But she's a little like that - if she came over to my house, she would ask before feeding either her or her children at least.

But I was telling her all about my couponing and targeting, like you were Jen, and I told her maybe once in a while we can get together and do a little shopping there. I don't mind sharing a few coupons with her once in a while, but then she's saying she loves the idea, wants to do it every week. She's like you bring the coupons, and we'll go shopping.

I'm like, are you SERIOUS?! Do you have any idea how much time it takes for me to print, clip and sort all those? Is there a way I can subtly suggest that she do her own couponing, and we can just go shopping together? Something like that? I don't know.

I can't really "sever ties" with her, as she's a friend of my dad's. Like for Easter when we go over to my dad's, her and her kids will be there. Her two girls kind of drive me crazy - she's one of those "free spirit" type of moms that thinks everything the kid does that's bad, oh it's just her "expressing herself." I'm like, how is pulling a hot pan of maccaroni off the stove "expressing herself?" Do something! Tell her no, swat her hand, put her in timeout, something, anything!

And the funny part is, she thinks I'm "too strict." Why, because my kid minds me, and listens when I tell him no? laugh out loud Because I don't let him spread mud or paint all over my house? laugh out loud If you say so.

So what's the best way to avoid going shopping with her? Do I blow it off, say something came up, what? I don't know. She's perfectly nice and everything, just a little odd. (She's into vampirism and permanent body scarring art and a whole bunch of other stuff I don't want to know about) and she is struggling (on food stamps and medicaid and everything) but with all the stuff she does, she would easily be able to do coupons to help her save a lot. I don't really want someone that's gonna mooch all the time. I'm perfectly fine with a give/take relationship, but no the ones where one does all the giving and the other does all the taking. laugh out loud

What do you guys think? At least she's not as rude as Jen's friend (you need to get RID of that one!) but it's a similar sticky situation.

I barely had time to fuse the bags together. It ended up being a long night...our water heater broke and starting spewing water all over the garage. Thank goodness DD caught it shortly after it started.

I guess I will have time to sew it up tomorrow when the repair men comes to fix it. I have to take off time from work.

DH is a plumber, but since we are in a rental kinda of weird to own a property--back home in the midwest--and be a landlord and a renter) he said forget it, I have already fixed enough sh!t around here for free.

Hmmmmmmm, all I have to say is DO NOT respond to her texts or calls. Definitely a moocher and a leach that will be hard to get rid of since you have "extras" she can come and grab anytime. I can guarantee that you will be hearing from and seeing her lots more now that she knows that you get things FREE or cheap. Don not allow her to make you her favorite "store".

Got my bags fused and sewn...I was tickled to death, DH wasn't so impressed. DDs both liked them.
I can see where this would work much better with new Target bags that aren't wrinkled. I had a hard time getting mine to not wrinkle. It makes it more "primitive" as whee called it, with the wrinkles I guess. I did find that the edges came apart while I was sewing and working with the plastic, so I'll have to re-fuse. Thanks for the idea whee hug . I tried to rep, but need to spread the love.
