That is amazing about the Gilligan O'Malley bra! Second time I read that, so it must mean its true! Big Grin Do you suppose this is the user study that was over in the freebies forum?! All I remember is a bunch of people talking about filling out questionaires in order to test out bras.

And this is totally OT, but it is kinda funny that VS, with all its in-your-face advertising, gets beaten out by a regular ol' joe kind of a bra. Big Grin

And not to be really super gross, but anyone got any tips to make a 2-yr-old boy go #2 in the potty?! We've got the first one down pretty good, but he can't seem to get the hang of the other one! And its not that he's constipated - he's quite regular, almost like clockwork - every day after lunch he has to go. 'Cept for when he's sitting on the pot.

Yeah, they're only $250...but by the time you buy enough controllers/nunchucks for 4 people, you're well over $600. EEK!

Don't get me wrong, I bought one cuz I love the wii, I'm just sayin....they're expensive. Dontknow

don't worry flugette - i can't get my 5 year old to poo in the potty either. we FINALLY got him to pee though a couple months ago. (he is LH, we've been working with him for a long time on the potty issue)
anyhow, he has made all of his other goals for this year so we aren't too disappointed. people say all kids will eventually potty train. and yes i'm sure there are people who think i'm a horrible mom because my kid's 5 and still not completely potty trained, but you know what? he's got a whole mess of other things on his plate that i'm more concerned about.

this year for the first time starting kindergarten he was put into an all-day special ed class with 5 other children whose needs are similar to his. there are 3 teachers, so all the kids get a lot of one-on-one time. i can't even begin to say the tremendous difference this has made in his speech, comprehensive abilities, letters and numbers, naming objects, and ability to use utensils (pencil, crayons, scissors, etc.).
in his last IP meeting we started to discuss new goals for next year, and overall he has done so well this year that it is expected he should be able to integrate into a 'normal' educational setting before he is 10.

i was devasted when i first learned my son could possibly be 'slow' his entire life. his father is 'slow' but his parents never sought help or services for him so he is very limited on just normal everyday things we take for granted like thought-processing, and basic reading and math skills. he is not able to have any kind of career that requires actual 'skills' and will probably live with his parents his entire life. (i am not with my son's father anymore, haven't been since my boy was 3 months old, but he is a good dad and we still do get along fairly well.)

to me that was wonderful news to hear that with intervention, my son should grow up to be a functional member of society. we are not quite there yet, but every step towards that goal makes me so happy.

with all that being said, it sounds like your son has a great start on his potty training - it is outstanding he can pee on his own. its been said children often feel weird with their butts over the hole trying to poo.. i don't know how else to explain it, but i'm sure it probably does feel weird to them because they aren't used to it. i'm sure you're son will do just fine. Smilie

and as for the VS bras, mine always fall apart after washing only 2 or 3 times. i gave up on them a long time ago. Stick Out Tongue

It took my son a long time after mastering peeing, to be able to go #2 on the potty. He was wearing underwear all day and still wouldn't go on the pot. When he had to go, he would get a diaper, bring it to me and ask me to put it on. Then he would run and hide in the corner, behind something, until his business was done. Then he'd bring the wipes and ask to be changed, lol. He was afraid to go on the potty. I don't know why, he would never say, just that he was afraid. I tried everything to get him to go on the potty, but to no avail. Then one day, he just started going on his own and this was when he was closer to 2 1/2 - 3 yrs old.

Every kid is different and his time will come. Just keep working with him but don't pressure him and Don't stress yourself out over it.

You sound like a WONDERFUL mom to me!!! hug That is great! It sounds like your son is making tremendous strides in his short lil life so far.

I agree, some children feel weird and scared "with their butts over the hole". LMAO (that made me laugh, btw). Soemtimes I think they are afraid of losing more than just their business, down that hole. I dunno. I do know, he will be fine. It just might take a little longer than we would like, lol.

Pardon my ignorance, but what's LH? I am sitting here, trying to figure it out and have NO idea! Smilie

Aw, your son sounds like a special little kid. My hubby and I have talked a lot about what we would do if we had "special needs" kid, 'specially after his radiation, and I know they would just melt our hearts like butter. My hubby is such a softy anyway - there's a little Spanish girl in my son's nursery that has some sort of disability. She has to wear glasses and even with them, she squints at everything. Anyway, she's the sweetest little girl, and will just walk up to one of the kids in the nursery, stand right in front of them, and grin this big ol' grin. Makes you smile just to see her smile. Thanks, all, for the encouragement about the potty-training. hug I guess its a concept we as parents see as "obvious", but the little ones see it quite differently. Big Grin And my son has always had to be very comfortable before he does his business - usually its when he's lying in bed about to fall asleep.

Ah, the joys of mothering! Big Grin

My DD was that way too. She'd wait until she was in her pj's (usually a one piece footed one, of course) and in bed, then she'd do her thing. It used to drive me nuts laugh out loud

its funny we were just talking about bras. i ordered 2 from this thread, they just arrived!
at first i was rather skeptical about ordering bras online, but then i figured.. i do actually need new bras badly, and i'd pay $10 at a store anyway so i might at well try the WonderBra when it's only $10. (never had wonderbra before)

i just tried one on and i've NEVER had a bra fit me so well. and.. i'm perky again for the first time in 5 years! Woot

i'm hoping it'll last better than my VS's did. it seems better made, and it doesn't have those weird pad things that bunch up inside when you wash them. so here's hoping for the best.

i got this one in white (didn't have black in my size):

My son is now 5 and we started potty training him at 3. It wasn't easy and he wasn't ready. But, he needed to be potty trained by august for preschool. He fought us tooth and nail.
Here's what I did:
Every Monday I'd put him in underpants and see what happened. Every monday he'd have an accident and I'd let it go until the next Monday. I don't know why I chose that way/day but I didn't want to push it or make him never do it.

Finally he got it. All was good, but the same thing with #2. He would get a diaper and beg and cry to have us put it on and then he'd do it and all was good. (for him) This went on for months and months. We tried bribing, toys, outings, m&m's, etc.

Finally, after what seemed like forever, I broke and I am NOT proud of this, but I got so frustrated that I wouldn't let him off of his little potty. Because he'd sit and sit and then scream and cry for his diaper/pull up. It was fun. LMAO It was months and months of this and I guess my patience had run out. He was 3 1/2 by now and preschool was in 2 weeks. I stood over him and wouldn't let him get up and he finally had to go and he did and I swear afterwards, He was like, "oh. ok. well that wasn't so bad." He never went back. I knew he could and knew how, but he was too scared to even try to. So, that day and from then on out he went to the bathroom on the toliet every day, all the time from then on out. No more cried nothing. Soooooo, I wasn't proud of myself, but glad I did it or who knows.......

So, you can send that Mother of the year award my way. Smilie haha

So, not that I'd ever recommend my way, but I guess just letting you know every kid is so differant. Some do it on their own without any asking and some are 4 or 5 beforethey do. My daughter, who just turned 2, will come up to me with a diaper and wipes and say, "mama, poop." and she'll go. It's so bizarre. LOVE it.

My DS didn't potty train till a month before his 3rd birthday. Boys tend to be slower at potty training than girls, so don't worry he will figure it out soon.

The way we trained my son was took him with us to the store to pick out a couple packs of his favorite underwear (i think it was thomas or Elmo) anyway we had him help us throw away all of the diapers and told him he gets to wear his big boy undies now. He was very excited but of course hesitant. We also explained to him that if he went no. 2 in the undies we would have to throw them in the trash. He absolutely hated the idea of throwing his favorite undies in the trash. It only took about a week to train him doing it this way. When he no longer had accidents we rewarded him by letting him pick out more undies. It seemed to be pretty efficient but messy vomit

Bras:
I bought a C9 (Champion) one on clearance at Target. Best bra ever. I prefer it to my VS ones. Comfy, can't really tell it is there.

Celery Lift So no one knows what this guy means, but everyone uses it? I see.
