Actually one of the strongest advocates was a Republican in New Mexico. I think he was the governor a while ago before Richardson. Also William F Buckley Jr, some consider him the godfather of the neo-con movement along with Kristol etc --- he leaned toward legalization. The former governor was actually in various public debates etc but tended to get too flustered --- you know act disgusted as if the anti-legalization debater was too dumb to get it.

Personally I think they should recast the hype so the pro-legalization image isnt this cliched, burned-out-hippie, adolescent image or even the hardcore libertarian message. They should market the idea to old folks in a soft mainstream way. A lot of them are sick and would benefit from pot and then add the benefits to the economy, gov taxes and the failure of the drug war -- without overselling it.

You know you often get these fringe-y guys who start ranting about how its going to solve all the world's problems overnight --- it wont. But it may possibly have a significant impact in various areas though maybe no nearly as large as the usualy flakey pro-legalization types claim. A super bland mainstream campaign aimed at retired folks and a nuts and bolts type argument aimed at the youth and middle aged people I think would dispel the flakey image pro-legalization groups have now.

There are actually websites dedicated to listing companies who don't test for drugs. Roll Eyes (Sarcastic) They'd have to lay off half of Google if they did test.

Why does one assume that a person who smokes marijuana doesn't have a job?

I mean, I COULD assume, by your post, your an a$$, but I don't. I will assume you are uneducated about marijuana.

I'm already a member. There are all sorts of pro's and con's. The main problem to this is the fear mongering that has been going on for the longest time. I'm tired of 'trying' to change peoples minds. All that I want in life is to be able to live my own life. But people just keep wanting to 'butt' into my business. These are people who have so much free time that they want to control who I marry, what I smoke and what church I want to go to. I wish they'd get on with their own lives and leave the rest of us free people alone. I know, take it to the podium. I have on a few occasions with positive results. People, just take every opportunity to tell others that YOU SMOKE MARIJUANA. I do, and am surprised about how MANY other people do too, but keep it a secret. Let it out, make it common place like it is here in California (for the most part).
We need to cut the budgets for the contract prison systems, and the DEA/DHS, because of all that money they are wasting chasing 'the evil weed'. Yup, the evil weed that hasn't done a darn thing wrong since the beginning of time. It's all about the Alcohol and Cigarette companies wanting to keep a closed market, and for prison contracting companies to keep as many people in jail as possible.

I don't kill people on the road doing DUI's.
I don't rob liquor stores for crack money.
I wont die of liver disease from drinking.
I don't put a drain on society.

I know there are some that do bads things, but they would do that no matter what 'stuff' they were using.

I SMOKE POT and I'm proud of it. I do contribute to the great society of America. I am a disabled vet. I am shocked that at every opportunity in the last 8 years the government has chosen to take liberties away from the people. I have spent 20 years of my life defending the constitution of the United States of America, while the government was sucking the life out of it. Take America back. With this president, we have a chance to go forward. Personal freedom is what this country is about, what it grew up on. Stand up and be counted.
