Whee Whee Whee

Doctor Who season 9 will air on Sept. 19. Click the link below to see the trailer and be sure to watch the entire thing, there's a familiar face at the very end. Or you can jump to 1:20 to skip the possible episode spoilers and see who I'm talking about.

There's other DW news too...

Reece Shearsmith (League of Gentlemen) who also played Second Doctor Patrick Troughton in An Adventure in Time and Space will be in a season 9 DW episode.

Strax from the Paternoster Gang gets a one-off, audio drama with Jago and Litefoot.

"Played by Christopher Benjamin and Trevor Baxter, Jago and Litefoot were created by scriptwriter Robert Holmes and made their first Doctor Who appearance opposite Fourth Doctor Tom Baker in 1977 story The Talons of Weng-Chiang. They were reunited by Big Finish over 30 years later, going on to collaborate on a string of dramas with a tenth series due for release this October."

Edit:
'The Doctor's Finest' premiers Aug. 15, with interviews and new footage from previous episodes. You might need to set up a new pass if you DVR Doctor Who, as the title doesn't include 'Who' in it.

what I've noticed with Capaldi is that the other cast members seem to be stronger. So as a whole the show isn't too bad imo.

Oh, big fan of DW by the way. I have seasons 1 - 8 on my home theater PC, it's slowly taking over sponge bob as the favorite in our house hold Smilie

When I went to watch yesterday's episode On Demand on Xfinity's box a short while ago, I noticed they have added all episodes from Season 2 (new Who) to present for free. Not sure how long this will continue, but if anyone is in the mood for the 9th, 10th, or 11th, there ya go. Smilie

Not sure if I saw this then forgot about it or just found it for the first time, oldtimers is screwing with my memory.

In 2013 they did a special, A Night with the Stars: The Science of Doctor Who (59min long) and it's available on instant watch now. It's pretty interesting and 'sciency' but explained in a way even I could understand it and it had some really funny moments too. It's also on Hulu and on Youtube.

The BBC is doing a DW spin off show aimed at young adults, it is based around the Coal Hill secondary school where Clara Oswald teaches. No word yet on which DW characters will appear in the spin off show.

David Tennant is reprising his role in Doctor Who [theguardian.com], but he will return in three new audio dramas rather than on television.

The much-loved 10th Doctor will be joined by Catherine Tate, who once again plays companion Donna Noble.

As the Time Lord, Tennant first stepped into the Tardis in 2005, departing five years later. He was last seen in the 50th anniversary episode, The Day of the Doctor in 2013.

*snip*

Doctor Who – The Tenth Doctor Adventures will be released on the Big Finish website in May 2016.

Warning radio episode spoilers on article:

There have been a lot of Doctor Who spin offs of just about every media (television, books, podcasts, comic books, radio) over the years, with the original DW series and the new DW series.

As for the new DW series, they did a spin off show with Sarah Jane and K-9, she had some kids helping her. The show would have gone on longer but when Elisabeth Sladen died they stopped the series, rather than try a different actor in the role.

Here's a wiki of the various spin offs they've created over the years.

(note there may be spoilers on the link below if you're not caught up on all the Doctor Who episodes)

I did know about the Sarah Jane ones but had never watched them. When I was catching up on new Who I used to consult both the wiki and Tardis [wikia.com] Data Core so I could see what other associated Tardisodes, Webisodes, Minisode, and specials (like the Children in Need clips) were associated with each year. Many were on youtube. Very impressed by the depth of organization in the wikis. I just figured K-9 would be better suited for children targeted shows, so if they were trying that again it would be cool to bring back K-9.

Wow Donna and the Doctor again yay. I have to remember to try and find these audio dramas later on. Thanks!

This is a really good explanation of River Song's timeline vs. the Doctor's timeline.

Caution, spoilers for anyone who isn't up to the end of Matt Smith's (11th Doctor's) episodes.

Stephen Moffat is trying to get Peter Jackson to make a Doctor Who episode.

Cool , thanks for the heads up!

Have you heard about the new BBC DW spinoff show, Class? It got a lot of criticism for being not very true to the previous style of the DW teen shows but I've heard it was really good, just more for an adult audience. Wink

I had, I remember press for NYCC, but I didn't pay attention too much. That is interesting that it is more for an adult audience, could be good. Never watched the Sarah Jane adventures but did watch Torchwood. I hope it will air on BBCA. I just remember reading something about Brexit and the limitation of British shows in the US in the future, hope that will not pan out.

I look forward to the DW Christmas special.
