Where do I look for Home Depot clearance items?

380 493 February 5, 2016 at 08:49 AM
Are there specific spots where they put clearance items? Are they next to similar types of items just with label 'clearance'?

I've seen a combination of both, where they put clearance items on the end cap or they leave the item in it's original spot and put a yellow clearance tag on it or the display

Also remember with HD it's really YMMV on what is on clearance and the price it's on clearance for. Plus clearance prices do not show up on-line.
On-line pricing usually indicates what the "regular" price is.

Here's an old thread, that use to be very popular-

Thank you, I was wondering why it was very inconsistent. There's no clearance aisle and its been inconsistent trying to find anything on clearance

Late reply, but Home Depot "yellow tags" are not always clearance either. Their clearance prices end in $x.06, $x.03,$x.02, or at the very end, $0.01. So if you see a yellow tag that ends in say, $x.00, that's HD trying to mislead you into thinking you're getting a clearance item at a good price.

Rule of thumb is that the prices drop through the different levels over time. The good news is that HD clearance tags will have a date on them from when the sticker was put on the item, so you can 'track' them. A tag that has a date from several months ago will most likely be much cheaper at the register than the price shown on the tag.

Also, for what it's worth. The vast majority of the clearance items I bought were still on the shelves. The clearance section tends to be managed better by the employees, so it's harder to score the really good deals. Not impossible, just harder.
