I'm sure it's been mentioned and buried but extended warranty benefit goes away next month which sucks
Uhh yeah I have an Amex, this is not true lol
I'm sure citi fought hard in the bidding process to beat Amex to get the Costco account. Part of the terms were probably to offer better benefits for the customer....

So after following this thread today, it seems that Citi is going to take balance, rewards, and credit limit from the Costco Amex card.

My limit with Costco Amex is just below $5k right now, since I've never needed to request a CLI. Visa Signature cards are usually around the $5k CL threshold, from what I remember. Should I request a CLI on my Costco Amex to get me above that $5k limit so that I can be switched over to a Visa Signature?

Its still a backward ass CHIP card. Its a chip and signature instead of chip and PIN which is used all around the world except U.S

Citi already has outsourced customer service in India. Talked to a guy once who couldn't speak English, was downright hostile, and accusatory. Filed a complaint on him after being transferred back to the US when I escalated, hope he got fired. Not holding out hope Citi will bring any jobs back to America...

The 5% is misleading. Its 5x points, but when you want to redeem the points, the value decreased. So I'd say it's more like 4% rather than 5%.

By the way, Penfed Amex has 5x on airline ticket purchases if purchased directly from an airline.

Both cards do not have foreign transaction fee and I believe both have CHIP-and-PIN capability.
Yup Penfed AMEX is CHIP-and-PIN but again it is not exactly 5% as you mentioned for another Penfed card.

Does anyone know if I already have the black Costco card with 2% cash back on purchases, and I pay for my purchases with this new Citi Costco card with the 2% cash back on Costco purchases...if they "stack" or is it one or the other?

Hmmm... I really liked having an Amex as my daily driver, not too stoked about Citi. My go to is now my Chase Sapphire, but this Citi seems interesting... maybe I'll replace my Amex Costco with Amex Blue Cash or Everyday

If you use a different brand Visa, you will get whatever benefits that card offers, which is definitely not the same as what was stated in the OP. Depending on promotions, there may be certain occasions where using another card could be better, but overall, this is a pretty good package.

I like to use my Avery label maker to put a label on my cards to remind me which one offers which benefits (including temporary promos) so that I'm sure to use the best card for the particular purchase.

I dont see an option to transfer my UR points to an airline in my account. Is it card specific? I would need to look through the terms. Crap! EEK!

I've liked my AmEx card for the benefits they give than the cash back. Better cashback is always welcome, but I would need to get another AmEx now for keeping its benefits and the extended warranties etc. They aren't even offering a good deal ona new card to entice the customers they will lose! Just the Blue Cash. Mad
UR transfer to airline is limited to cardholders of Sapphire card... there is an annual fee. You can easily transfer between UR accounts... then transfer out of sapphire to your airline (6-7 airlines, 2-3 hotel chains)

SPG amex is good card to have to because of how valuable the SPG points are (may change with the merger talk)... the card is not so great to rack up the SPG points (1 to 1) but you can transfer to 30 different airlines... 20k SPG points = 25k airlines miles (for most airlines).

The best thing about this is double dipping with Costco Executive membership and get 2% on top of the 2% from the costco citi card.

Where'd you hear this? I'd like to keep an Amex card as I really enjoy their benefits.
They have started mailing out solicitation - obviously based on the list of members that they got from servicing Costco members.

However, note that the solicitation does not mention anything about Costco & may look like any other solicitation from Amex.

But you can tell, it started coming hot & heavy after just getting an occasional Delta Amex or Gold Amex in prior years.

Now you get the Blue Cash back one & $300 credit on first $3K spent.
Yes, you can call in & have them convert it from Costco Amex to Some other Amex but you wouldn't get any incentives.

We got he new Amex Cash Blue card & will let Citi convert our old Costco Amex to Costco Visa for us.

My experience is that many of the small business (restaurant/cafe/specialty shop) in my area don't prefer Amex because its higher processing fee. They may have an Amex sticker on the door/window/counter, but they will politely ask if you have a Visa/Master/Discover or they will tell you a minimum spending limit of $X to use an Amex card. This also happens a lot in Asia when I travel there. I have not been to a place that will ask for an Amex card in favor of a Visa/Master/Discover card. laugh out loud

I'm still debating whether to accept Amex's offer on a new card, just for the Amex Deal offers and ShopRunner.

Sallie Mae, Penfed, and I think there's another that gives 5% back on gas with no fee.
The Sallie Mae isn't available anymore (for new members), or the Citi Freedom that keeps getting mentioned. And it's getting downgraded anyways.

Which Penfed card is it?

I don't think so, 3% is pretty high on restaurants, and 4% on gas. The cards with rotating categories will beat these for 1/4 of the year, for example Freedom offers 5% on gas right now until April 1, but I don't think there's a 4% yearly gas card for no fee.

Pretty good card, it looks like
Penfed has 5 Points card with no annual fee.

I'll ask the same question again, exactly which card is it?

If you're talking about this one, it's not really 5 points
