I'm sure it's been mentioned and buried but extended warranty benefit goes away next month which sucks
Uhh yeah I have an Amex, this is not true lol
I'm sure citi fought hard in the bidding process to beat Amex to get the Costco account. Part of the terms were probably to offer better benefits for the customer....

Stop crying after Amex..I went to new Zeeland NOBODY was accepting Amex, I went to Hong Kong ONLY 1 vendor at the airport was taking Amex, same with Europe

Amex is garbage and greedy with the highest vendor fee the reason nobody take Amex

I recently just traveled to europe (UK, France, and Italy) and the majority of the places I went to took AMEX.
Exactly, comparing AMEX with Visa or MC is like comparing a Ford Pinto to a Benz.
I have Visa and MC and use them all the time, but level of service with AE is something else.

The key was to be an executive member at costco but purchasing everything through amex spg, get 2% for executive and then spg points at a place that only accepted amex.

Since that's going away, I'll be using my fidelity visa (2% on all purchases) to fill the non-bonus category (quarterly bonus from chase freedom 5%, sapphire dining and travel 2%, and gas from this citi costco 4%, GC at staples from chase ink 5%).
Fear no more. You should still be able to continually use your SPG Amex by buying Costco gift cards online.

while AMEX got greedy on benefits i do not think Citi card will be better. They will cut all benefits to the same level AmEX did in 1 year. All customer service will be in India (if you are patient enough to reach them). we had Citi card long ago and were very happy to get rid of it.

Is amex offering any way to transfer the existing credit limit to another Amex card instead of sending it to Citi?

I don't need another visa and I don't like Citi.

I've had excellent customer service with Amex and extremely poor service with Citi to the point where I cancelled my cards with them. I would prefer to stick with Amex any day.

When I spoke to a representative a few weeks back, I was told that Citi would get the entire credit line. It wasn't a regular AmEx card, it was co-branded. Something like AmEx held the credit line on behalf of Costco (not the exact words, pardon me). So AmEx did not have control on who gets the credit line nor could you transfer it to another credit card with AmEx.
That is why there will be no credit check when Citi picks it up.

I've not dealt with Citi in the US. But I just love AmEx support compared to Chase/ WF/ BofA. The best reps, very helpful and respectful. Their support has always been top notch, be it just regarding charges on your card, filing for disputes, accident protection on purchases. I never had to claim rental or travel insurance.

if you go by Facts.... AMEX has done down hill and will give you problems at times when filling a claim... so you are WRONG! Discover is now the King of the Hill. in other words... if you are making a risky purchase.... use your Discover Card!! take if from a Pro who has filled many claims with Amex and Discover. At one time like 5+ years ago.... Amex Was the best... not anymore though!!!!!!!

now I know why Costco dumped them!

Not sure if it's mentioned...

my Sam's club credit card gives me
5% gas
3% travel/dinning
1% elsewhere

It's been great since no other gave me 3% dinning and I eat out a lot.
I this it is finally time to cancel my Sam's club card

Wow, I had exact opposite experience. Hands down the worst experience I ever had was with American express. So much so that I can't wait to dump American express once Costco switches over (I'm in the group of people who were not happy with Costco pushing back the switch over date).

I have filed a claim with them fairly recently, and the service was top notch. Resolved on the spot to my satisfaction, politely and helpfully.

Can't say the same about my experiences with Citi.

Then again, I don't aspire to become "a pro" at filing claims with CC companies. I only do it when absolutely necessary and Amex has given me the least trouble.

Fine but I still want a replacement AMEX card to get those occasional good deals. What are the options?
