Does anyone know if the auto rental insurance is primary coverage like Amex premium rental protection (Paid though) and the Chase sapphire (Free) or a secondary coverage like every other credit card out there.

When I called, I didn't hear anything about an offer to transition and keep the same credit card number. So I applied for the Blue Cash Everyday card. They matched my $12K CL from the Costco AmEx. Would be interesting to see if they send me an offer to transition my Costco one over too.

yep, visa went to Costco and Amex went to BJs, in fact if you take a membership with BJ's via Amex it's 50% off plus a $25 gift card which means you pay the tax

Back in 2008 when I first got the Costco AMEX, they also offered 3% cash back at restaurants. A few months or years later, I finally noticed they dropped it to 2%, where it is today.

The new Citi benefits are certainly superior to what Costco is offering today via AMEX. However, I am not fooled to think Costco / Citi will continue to offer the increased % back vs. AMEX. (I am sure Citi will keep gas back @ 4%, as this is their hook)

OK I just read all 32 pages and here are the questions I have unanswered and I did read the site:

1. Does the Costco Anywhere Visa Card by Citi have an FTF (Foreign Transaction Fee) <-- Assuming YES
2. Does this card give you 2% back at Costcotravel.com <-- Assuming NO since it says Costco and Costco.com but does not specify costcotravel.com

I am totally excited about this card! Can't wait!

Here's my cards:
Amazon Chase VISA (3% amazon) <-- Considering getting the Amazon Prime Store Card to 5% back on this since I don't anticipate using this card elsewhere after Costco's new card Smilie I have Amazon student for $55/yr for 3 years 8 months more so the extra 2% may be worth it!
Citi Double Cash Back Mastercard (2% on all other purcases)
AMEX Blue Everyday (3% on Trader Joes only)
Citi Costco Visa (costco gas 4%, restaurants 3%, travel 3%?, costco groceries/stuff 3%)

BOA Debit cards for emergencies or places that need debit only.


What do you guys think?

A lot people gloss over that last option. Deposit $25 in an MMA and you get the no AF and 5% CB.

When did they implement this? I have a car loan that is going away this year, so I'm wondering when they'll downgrade me to 3%.

Hmmm, I've actually had this card for years (or at least a PenFed card) but haven't used it since they changed the reward structure from straight cash back to a devalued point system offering basically 80 cents on the dollar. After reading their description of a "regular" and a "plus" card, I still don't know the difference. I mean, difference in terms of how you qualify for the plus vs. the standard card. Clearly, 3% CB with a $25/year AF is << 5% CB with no AF.
