Oh yeah. He asked for croutons 3 weeks ago and I couldn't find them. Now he has 4 bags. He asked for a tool thingie and he has 2. Asked for car wax and now he has 8 bottles of it. He knows he'll get lots of what he wants if he is patient.

I I really think Single moms deserve more tax breaks etc...
Single parents DO get more tax breaks (head of household filing status, several refundable tax credits that most of us don't even come close to qualifying for, not having to pay taxes on that child support, among others...)......come on guys, we all make our choices in life, let's live with them. I'm not saying single parenting is not hard, my brother raised a daughter a lone, and is now raising a son, but when we start depending on the government to take care of us, or to "fix" us, or to make us better, then we have some seriously screwed up thinking. Let's stop hoping for a president to take care of us. It's not gonna happen, either dem or rep.

I pay more in income taxes than some people even make in a year. My husband and I get really sick of being penalized for other people's poor life choices.

Flame away I don't really care. I'll just put ya on my ignore list.

Firestar, I luv ya, this is not directed to you. Just a general statement. The common way of thinking in this country is screwed up beyond belief. But yeah, the rich aren't payin' their fair share.....bla bla bla......

Hope everyone gets all the deals you're hoping for, I'll pop in when I can!
I never thought it would work but it does. It's fantastic.

Have fun with the kiddos, that's so much more important than this. But this is fun too! Remember, that's what late nights are for!!

I know everyone makes their choices...but I tend to side a little more with smrtshppr here...I know several single mothers that are able to stay at home with their children due to all of the government assistance they get while I have to go out and work 40 hours a week and sometimes it's really frusterating b/c they live better than I do!!! At times I envy some of my single mother friends b/c they live at home with mom and dad who are built in babysitters and they still get to go out and pretty much do what they want. I was talking to one the other night and she didn't feel that going out 3-4 times a week was a lot....like I said even though she's a single mom she still gets to go out and do what she wants. Obviously I understand this isn't the case for a lot of people and I admire the women doing it all on their own, but sometimes raising kids with two parents is just as hard!!

ok....happy things so fedex knocked on my door today and guess freakin what??? I actually got that breeze littler system that everyone may have signed up for a couple of weeks ago!!!!

I had to laugh at 3 to 4 times a week. I couldnt tell you the last time I went out. I have 3 kids and live near no family and havent met anyone that I can trust yet. I usually use dh to keep the kids when he's home to do a T or CVS run. I just love paying my tax money to people that let their WIC checks expire!!!!! Some people need and deserve it. UGgghhh.

Yep....I don't think my dh and I have ever had a night out together since dd was born and she turned two in March. About a month ago we had finally arranged a babysitter and dh had back problems so we couldn't go out.

Does anyone know why my posts have started back over to 10? I have posted before (although not a lot because usually by the time I get to Target my deals are already posted) and when I just posted in the Target thread it started my posts over. . . is it because it has been awhile since I last posted?
TIA

Bet he'd like it if you sold some of this excess at your next garage sale.

And furthermore, really, since when is it your husband's decision whether you waste your time collecting excess crap. I mean, seriously, if my husband put restrictions on what I do with my time there'd be a problem around here.
Well, I'm a SAHM. He sees that my time should just be with the kids. It's a 24/7 job!nod

Quote from firestar :
My husband gets mad/tired of my excess sometimes, just because of storage and moving issues, but he doesn't tell me not to spend the time on it. He lets me do what I want, and I agree he should, I let him do what he wants, except when dragging him to Target again and again! laugh out loud laugh out loud laugh out loud You gotta laugh to keep from crying. Seriously, I didn't take him tonight I didn't do any runs today, and tomorrow I think I will try to go before he gets home from work, so I don't have to drag his tired butt around again! My husband does help me cut, sort and clip, and move and organize, but he is way to lost on these deals to do one alone. He is a good man, poor thing being drug from Target to Target! laugh out loud
I don't drag or ask him to go to T with me. I do this on my own time with the kids.

I totally can't take credit for this...someone pm'd me the info....but i was told you can stack q's and use q's like the clean team $3/2 to get overage....i went to bru and they didnt have any freakin clean team so ymmv!!

Ok...so mama I totally see where you are coming from b/c my dh was the same freakin way until he came up with the bright idea of re-selling the excess stuff...so now in addition to the things I want to stockpile I pick up really cheap/free stuff I can resell at a garage sale...dh especially is into it now b/c i told him he can have half of the money we make off of it to buy a button machine (don't ask....) Now my dh looks at it like a second job...and also don't let it consume you!!!!

I went through a "stage" where all I wanted to do was shop shop shop get good deals...and dh tired of that real quick. It's all great to get good deals but don't let it interfere or allow yourself to neglect other things!!!

As far as organization goes...pffttt i have no real system lol. I have one of those coupon organizers from wm...i keep the q's I know I will use...and the rest get cut up eventually and i seperate them into envelopes by category and put the envelopes in a shoebox....when i see a deal on here i grab the q and put it in my organizer....you can also keep the shoebox in your car. I try to be discreet with my coupons b/c my T's are not the most friendly when it comes to coupons...come to think of it none of my stores are lol.
Yeah, I wish he would help me sell this stuff. But he doesn't even bother with garage sales.

Thanks for the tip on organizing. I'll try that. It just seems like I have qs everywhere! And I don't really know what I should keep and what I should put up for trade.

I remember when I was a single mom, before getting married again, and it was so hard. I didn't get my CS hardly at all, and my job wasn't the best. Employers don't seem to care if you are a single mom, it is all about making money for them. I hope things work out for you, as I will never ever forget the hard times I had! Then I went on the College, got a better job, and remarried, so times are better now. I really think Single moms deserve more tax breaks etc... It is so hard for a single mom, first off a woman usually doesn't make as much as a man can, then usually but not always a woman is not as strong as a man, so doing household repairs is very tough sometimes. Then because you are a single mom, you can't afford to pay someone to do things for you. It is a no win game, and to this day I am still owed over 20k in back CS for my daughter.

Being a single parent is tough at times, more so when DS was younger, but it's totally changed my life around. Sure, I lived at home with my parents after he was born, used WIC and rec'd childcare assistance, etc. I probably took advantage of having the built-in babysitter because I wasn't ready to give up my party days & convert to a domesticated lifestyle. I worked full time & finished school only with the help of my parents. Got a good job at a resort after college, worked my way up, transferred & now have found a happy little spot at a family owned company. Baby daddy up & left for Jersey about 4-5 years ago, haven't seen or heard from him since. I don't depend on his money, if I had to depend on him for anything, I would be SOL.

I'm just saying I don't want to depend on anyone else for the quality of my life. Sure I'm about to have to buy a new a/c unit & I've got to call a plumber, but hey, I own a house, drive a nice car that doesn't break down & thanks to SD, have a little extra cash to afford small luxuries. Looking back at my life then, 21 with a baby, I would not have been able to finish school and work at the same time without daycare assistance. Had a rent-subsidized apt, so rent was affordable and wic helped out for a short time. I don't really know what I'm trying to say, just that back then, as a new single parent, I was ambitious to not want to be associated with a negative stereotype.

I tell ya, switching from the corporate world to a small family owned business has made a huge improvement in the quality of our lives. Appointments are no problem, I can bring him in if there are times that the babysitter is not available (he's almost 8 now), so that has dramatically decreased my stress level. It's all in what you create for yourself. If you've got the want to do it, then do it, and make a change. It's not easy, but it sure is fulfilling to see what you have earned. Most importantly, I love being a mother to such a sweet, darling, funny, thoughtful, intelligent child.

the end.
