This is a periodic promotion for those interested in online access to a large library of technical books. It seems to be a summer and Cyber-Monday event, but now's a good time to subscribe if you have been considering it in the past.

Offer through Aug 5th. (Has been extended in past sales, but I have no information if it will be this time.)

Edit: "for life" simply means that the renewal price will remain the same (unlike Adobe subscriptions Smilie )

Thanks for posting. I rec'd the email too and was wondering what the history on the offer was.
Somewhat tempted to buy into it, but most of the time I'm buried in spec sheets and vendor material; by the time there's a book it's a few years after implementation.
I need to pick up Python, but I've already bought a few books for it.

check your local library (or college/state university)

some have access to safari (either in person on location, or via login-proxy online)

eg: seattle public library

california state library

I have had this for last few years but only the 5 bookshelf one, for 109.99 a year and still i dont think i use it enough.

The full site will only be for someone who uses it at work daily.

Safari is awesome if you can get your employer to cover it. I am thinking of trying to see if I can get them to cover this one, and just keeping it going from year to year.

Anyone know if there's any difference between the 5slot and this one besides the limit on monthly checkout?
