just got back from the dentist with ds.

the good news is - it was only $68 and we got the school form all filled out. no cavities or anything, he's doing good.

the bad news - we didn't get ANY other services i had specifically asked about to get the issue with these teeth fixed. Mad

i feel like most of it was my fault in that manner. this was my son's first actual trip to the dentist where he actually got to make it into office and SEE the dentist!! because all others turned us away due to his age, even family and pediatric dentists turned him away.
anyway, i feel like such a lame-ass for not having dh with me. i can't sign someone else's name and info if they are not physically there to say, yeah that's okay. i had to fill out all those initial forms, and of course things did not look good where i had to write in myself as the person in charge of the account. i'm not working - i'm a sahm - and have no dental insurance. i'm sure things all went downhill because of that, because prior to me handing the form back they were fine to us. shake head vomit

i dunno, i just feel like we got the shaft because they thought i didn't have the money to pay for this. his appointment was at 3. we got there at 2:30 and weren't seen until 3:45. other patients (non-appointments) came in after us and got seen before we did. we were the very LAST patients to be seen today.
it just really pisses me off because the dentist did say those baby teeth will likely not fall out. but he refused to give the kid anaesthetics (sp?) and take care of the issue at this time. he wanted us to 'come back in 4 months.' uhh.. yeah, when my kids mouth is already farked up beyond repair by then so i'll have to pay you even more to fix it? i even directly asked him, if you already know they are not going to come out - why don't you just take them now and be done with it? he and the nurse just looked at me like i was crazy and didn't give an answer.

i do know why they wouldn't make the extractions though, and its exactly the same reason i felt lame filling out the forms. to them, it looks like i was looking for free services. i guarantee if dh had been with us and filled them out we'd have gotten what we wanted done. nod

anyway i did make it perfectly clear to the receptionist that i was not happy with the service received, because i was looking to get everything done in one trip. i told her - i don't have dental insurance as it is. why would i want to spend even more money to keep coming back for this issue, that we already know how to fix - but the dentist won't do it? i wouldn't have mentioned it and just went on my way to never return, but she asked so i figured i may as well let'er rip. i also mentioned we had been ready to spend up to $800 on this appointment. Wink

it was just such a complete waste of time to even go there today and it just gives us that much less time to get an appointment scheduled with someone else. i'm so bummed i couldn't get ds's teeth fixed today. Sadwalk

i haven't talked to dh about it. he's not going to be happy when he finds out that we have to reschedule to a time that he can be there for. but there's no way i'm going to go through this with another dentist who thinks i don't have the ability to pay for the services we need. shake head

I would like to bang my head repeatedly into the wall right now.

Isn't it amazing how you can be having a completely great day and it all goes to sh*t in like 5 minutes???

We have suddenly incurred a $1900 debt....don't ask it's a long story and not in the mood to get into it. We don't have that kind of money and I have no clue how we are going to get that kind of money. The plus side is we can make monthly payments...the bad side is we're already stretched thin making our month to month bills. *sigh*

If anyone has idea's for good cheap/free items to sell at the flea market I would def. appreciate it. hopefully if I can do that 1 or 2 times the month it will cover the payment and we won't be totally screwed.

Dh's mom's surprise birthday party is this weekend. It was our idea and his sister totally hi-jacked the party and now she's calling us TWO days before the party saying we need to get the cake and now his other sister isn't paying for the appetizers etc....I'd like to tell her to (insert all kinds of bad words here), but dh won't let me and I have to find a nice cake for cheap in two days. In addition to working, cleaning, and taking care of dd and dh (he had teeth pulled).

Oh and now I have to get ready for work and make sure everything is ok b/c my boss is coming back tommorow.

Ok, sorry for the rant but everything had been going fairly well and now it just sucks.

Do you have any diapers or wipes? I made over a $100.00 on wipes and I am getting $275.00 for the diapers tomorrow. Sorry to hear of your troubles

Ok ok, getting to the point! In simple terms...when a woman is under stress her body has a "coping mechanism" to postpone or supress ovulation. Her body "knows" if it is a good or bad time for conception.
Well hell's bell's....I guess I don't have to worry about getting pregnant. Anymore stress around here and you can just call me Infertile Myrtle.

I don't mean to be the pessismist, but I don't think any dentist is going to do any kind of extractions like this, on the first visit. I could be wrong, but most want to evaluate the situation first, and then schedule another appointment for the "real" work. Especially because he is so young. kwim? It totally sucks though that they treated you that way. hug

Hey DM how's your mom?

Rough day here. We did have our second opinion today and I'm torn. Will detail more over the weekend. Right now dealing with a dosing issue. I have to wake him up every hour, test him and feed him. Be dressed and ready to go to ER, hoping we don't have to. Hubby will take 2a and 3a so I can get a couple hours sleep

Beating ourselves up pretty bad. This is realy awful. We are lucky I went to chart his numbers tonight and found it, otherwise....I'm not even going to say.

I did hit a Target today. Needed a few PA's. I had a very boring run. Stormy may kill me for saying this but I really don't think we need any more toys. I hit KM too, forgot to factor in tax and had to use my CC EEK! . Been using my cash for parking at the doc offices, didn't realize I was out. Costs around $5 each time.

Tomorrow will be bad recovering from this so I won't be on much. Must upload some pics at varying times when I can. I also have a bunch of coupons I need to get rid of again. No time to read deals, haven't been on in a couple of days. Assuming I'm not missing anything. I did notice a couple of clearance signs by post its but nothing was marked and I didn't have time for scanning

Iagree Most of the time they make the first appointment for a set amount of time, so after they do xrays, exam, etc the appointment time is used up, so they reschedule for a later date to do the work, but four months does sound like a long time based on that article, especially since the dentist himself said they needed to come out.

4 months is way too long. I'd get another opinion. But you have to have the $ to do that

every hour doesn't sound good. please keep us posted, hope you don't have to go to ER either. You aren't having to work right now are you? If wishing could make him better, he'd be well.

Thankfully I'm off this week. DH is working though. I wish he could take off and stay up with me. I think I'm going to snooze a bit between the tests starting with the next one or I will be a zombie if we truly need to do the emergency stuff they told us to do.
