[YMMV] - Costco Car Rental Codes - Costco Memership Not Required

+165 Deal Score

I am creating this thread only because I posted this information in other threads and found out that not many people realize you can use costco codes ( which tend to net out lower rates quite a few times) without an active costco memership.
I am not saying this always gives a lower rate , just more often than not , so worth trying before you book elsewhere.

YMMV because some people have reported being asked for a costco card at the rental location. So I would keep a backup fully refundable rental just in case. FWIW , I have not been asked for my costco card over about 2 years at airport and local locations with Enterprise , Avis and Budget. Have not rented with alamo through costco yet.

Here is how I do this
  1. Goto https://www.costcotravel.com/Rental-Cars. Codes for Enterprise , Avis , BUdget and Alamo are available on that page
  2. Click on " Low Price Finder" to find the best option for your location and dates .
  3. Once you know which Car Rental Agency you are going with , goto their website and use the codes from Step 1 above on the Car Rental Website. You maybe asked for costco information but that field is optional. You can even put an inactive / invalid costco membership number. I have never been asked for a Costco ID at the rental location.
  4. Do not try to book through costco website as that would need you to put costco membership information.

For Reference , Below are the current codes from https://www.costcotravel.com/Rental-Cars

I also appreciate your time. I'm not a costco member anymore, when I book on Costco website it gives me a weekly rate of $323.00. When I go to Alamo, It gives me a rate of $341.98. I entered your codes. any thoughts on why this is happening?

What City and dates are you checking?
I just reserved a Full Size car in Central California for $368 for two weeks (14 days) in December.

Through the costcotravel site.

I have been asked to show my Costco membership Card at Las Vegas. Usually in busy airports where everyone rent a car.

Rented once using a Costco code for Budget and was asked for the Costco card at the service desk. Since I didn't have the Costco card, he added the discount back go my balance. FYI
