Week 10 - Yardboy/GiantPeach

It's late, I'm tired, and this was the most boring week ever. Seriously, 7 entrants. There was just nothing exciting until p lite took down icon's cowboys with a river straight. I took a big from bess a bit later with a flopped set of ducks that turned into a boat, and I busted HeWhoRoams when the board Jacks and Fours two-pair favored my J over his 4. That put me and p lite heads-up for 102 hands. We traded chips the whole time. The only two notable hands among them were when I rivered into a flush for a 4800 chip pot and the final hand, where his all-in A7 was met by my KJ and I caught a river J for the win.

Like I said. Most. Boring. Week. Ever.
week 8 writeup by plite
Back to Back!!

A better turnout this week as we had 11 players. Our table of 5 started a bit slow as a10 and GP were mia for a while. Once we hit the final table BB and GP were paired up in the first knock out hand as BB caught a second pair on the river that fed right into GP's flush.... Mav was also a victim of the dreaded two pair when he was knocked out by my small blind 910 full boat.. GP saw a reversal of fortune when HWR drew pocket aces and they held (this time)... After a solid hour or so of shuffling chips between Icon, LL, HWR and me. Icon goes out when AK gets flushed down the shitter by HWR's AQ.

To return the favor I push AK suited and HWR calls with AA. As I am packing up to go home a flush comes down the river and saves me. HWR fought back nicely but just couldnt come back. At that point I think everyone was tired and after a few pushes LL fell to some lame hand...
week7 writeup by plite
Another small crowd but it looks like eight was my lucky number. Our table of 4 started out very tight with a10 mia for first few rounds. Nothing much happened. Once we consolidated BB was the first casualty. Lylac' AA lost to RL's 1010 thx to flush. Iconian and a10 both went out to poket 8's. For me Pocket pairs were hot. I must have had pocket pairs 10 times. Most of the time they held up, except for an early beatdown from a10.

The crucial hand was a heads up 67 vs 65. 66x flop and it was game on. I out kicked RL for a x4 chip lead and he could not recover. See you next week.. 67.. lol..
week 6 writeup by a10
We'll here goes, after missing the first 30 mins or so walked in to find pocket Q's quick raise win pot, thats how the night started. Alot of give in take after that, spotted GPeach afew calling his all in with KK against my AJ. Played catch-up the rest of the night until seems to be a theme with me when my QJS out drew GP A3S crippling him. Finnished GP off a few hands later when my AQos held against 109os. Then things heated up Hewhoroams holding a slight chip lead 8840/6160, HWR took first hand,2nd dealt 10's blinds 100/200 HWR raises to 600 reraise to 1000, hwr calls flop 988 hwr bets 600 I raise to 1800 turn 5d allin hwr fold's, now I have slight lead HWR gains chip lead again until I,m dealt 5d8h HWR raises 2/3's the pot figure he's trying to bleed me of chips I call, flop comes 7h5s6d I check HWR bets 2k i re-raise to 4k/ call turn comes Ac bet 400 hwr call, river 5h bet 600 / calls show my trips (lucky me) A3 HWR?. Finnal hand dealt AJs in the small blind raise 3 times the blind HWR calls flop Ac8s5s HWR all-in insta call HWR shows 8c9s my Ace holds. Thats all for this week.

Week5 writeup by hewhoroams

Was a bit of a small showing this week, and I was actually debating not Playing. From a personal stand point, whenever I come up nicely in my cash games beforehand, I tend to play poorly in this game. Today, I lost a few buy-in's, so I was hoping my luck was differnet.

The game started off innocent enough. I min raised with QJo, and ended up with the nut straight. Probably should have been betting, but I was in a min raising (for opening mood).
We all quickly made the final table (if anyone asks, we didn't start at the final table).
I managed to sneak a decent sized pot from Iconian with my top 2 pair against his 2nd two pair.
The next significant pot was Big John taking a pot with Aces and deuces against Lylac's KTo.
In this stretch I hit a few low Pocket pairs that never connected with the flop, and one trash hand that 2 paired the board. None of those paid off very well.
I got brunick chasing a straight on hand 26 for another 500 chips.
2 hands later I was dealt pocket 6's. Rl raised my opening raise, and Lylac reraised, so I gracefully bowed out. Flop comes 5kk two diamonds. Lylac pushes and RL calls. The turn is a Ten of clubs and the river was the 6 of clubs. Lylac has queens for 2 pair, and RL has jacks for 2 pair. lylac takes the pot. Anyone paying attention might have noticed I missed my fullhouse here and an oppurtunity to knock out 2 players. I know I noticed. No one knocked out here, but a 2200 chip pot was pretty important.
RL took a random pot from soon after where I was flush and straight chasing, and he beat me with a high card from the BB. I gave him a little lip for it, but it was just in jest. I'm glad we didn't hit our flushes, he would have had me.
Next hand I had AJs of diamonds, and took a decent pot against Brunicks A2s of clubs. He pushed all in pre-flop, and I had to call him down. He was the first player to go at hand 35.
RL took down a nice pot with a Push on a [7c 5h 5s] flop, not sure what he had though.
A lot of small pots until hand 45, where once again I find myself with a pocket pair. There's a big opening raise, so I lay down my pocket 4's. Flop comes [Qs As Th] and I'm extremely thankful I laid my cards down. However Big John and Plite both like it. John opens and Plite raises. River comes a Jd which makes a king make the straight. Plite pushes and John calls. Plite has 2 pair with A's and J's, while John has the king for the straight. And of course the river is an Ace giving Plite the full boat over the nut straight. Plite collects nearly 3000 chips, leaving John with about 3 BB's.
hand 50 was a split pot between Lylac and Iconian who both had AJo. Lot of chips not going anywhere on that one.
Bogey knocked out Big john on hand 54. Bogey opened with pockey 7's and John called with A8o. The flop of [6s Tc 9h Kh] [Qs] didn't help anyone, so Bogey took a 1300 chip pot and eliminated John.
Hand 62 saw more chips come my way when i called down RL with QJs against his a4o. I double paired on the river, beating his pair of aces for about 2k in chips.
Hand 68 was top pair vs 2 pair, and a 3k was from Plite to bogey.
One of my favorite hands was hand 78. I had 89s. Flop was Q66, so I decided to bet into it, and was called by bogey. 4s was the turn and I bet again (trying to represent a queen). When the Qd hit the river I fired a third barrel, and after tanking for a moment, bogey folded. Not sure what he had, but unless it was pocket 5's, he had me beat. That bluff was worth about 1600 chips.
Hand 84 saw plite hitting a straight with his KTo vs RL's Pair of aces. This left Rl with about 4 BB's.
RL got it all in a bit later, but the board laid a straight out and chopped the pot, saving him. Shortly after he got in a flush with J4 of hearts against Bogey's aces to get back into the running.
At this point I had seen myself lay down some marginal hands that would have been hitting the flop nicely. But thats poker I guess.
Hand 103 was a big showdown. RL open lead All in, prompting a call by lylac, and after some tanking, Plite too. Cards came out [Jh Ad 7s 8h] [6c] and Plite took it down with AKo. Rl lost it with KTo and Lylacs 5's didn't hold up. This hand knocked out 2 players, and essentially dropped Plite, bogey and I into the money. I had noticed that I had folded 67 there and would have had the best hand, but there was no way I was calling down 3 All in's with offsuit connectors.
Chip counts were even at this point, and it was pretty stale. Everyone was tightening up since we missed our bubble. About 10 hands after trading blinds, Bogey open min raised, so I raised him with AQo. Flop gave me top pair top kicker, so I was pretty excited to see him push all in. I was a little worried he hit trips, but it wasn't something I could lay down. He had QT, and river and turn were both nines. I knocked him out and collected 7500 chips, giving me a large chip lead.
Plite and I didn't take too long to get into it. We swapped blinds for a bit until the last hand (121). I checked in the BB with 63d and he completed with KJc. The flop came 66k and I checked, hoping he had a king. Well he did, and he pushed, and it was an easy call with trip 6's. I was relieved to see the turn and river bring garbage, and I took down the game.

Week 4 write up by Yardboy

There is no way I should've won this. Ask anyone who was there, they'll tell you.

Short-stacked Icon ran into my AA early on, and I got a little bit of a stack, but right after that my AK went down to Lylac's 99 and I was left with 725 chips, which trickled down to 500 before I could get some paint and move in with KQ. First beat of the night, I hit a river K to take it from Billb321's AJ. Two hands later I get all in with KJ against HeWhoRoams with AJ and second beat of the night comes in the form of A9T8Q on the board. I hang on to between 1k and 2k chips until I move all-in with KJ, get called by Billb321 with AJ... and hit a straight on the turn. That's 3 bad beats, and many other hands bringing me back from the brink of < 800 chips many times.

RL sort of went on a tear at one point, with pots here and there and a straight flush, even. Next two hands I took out Billb321 with AT over 22 and TT over his ill-advised stab at the blinds with 96. And two hands after that, I thought I'd lucked into a winner with 24 and a 5344T board, only RL had 34 and at that point pulled even with Lylac at about 6k chips, me at a little under 4k. I knocked RL down pretty good a few hands later - flush draw to my flopped pair and no help, and then the killing blow with my Q4 flopped trips and we got'em on the table.

Lylac and I end up heads up for the second week in a row, only this time I'm up in chips two-to-one. Until, that is, I get a little crazy and donk off a 9k pot. I went on the offensive, took down about 2-to-1 pots through to the end.

Anyway, I'm not proud of it, but a win is a win, and Lylac and I are now even-stevens 1-to-1 heads up at the end. Smilie

Week 3 write up by Lylac Crazy

This week was similair to last week, so I'll start at the end today. I have to do this from memory. At the final 2 I had GiantPeach dominated 15k to 3k chip difference. Catch BQ, all in to his 79 or something and he catches to double up, and then he starts playing. He nickles and dimes me for a while. We're even for what seems like 15 minutes of play. Finally catch BQ again and go all in again to his KJ, and end it there. Now on to Icon. That boy is one tough mofo, even when almost out he doubles up, again and again. Ahead at one time in the final 3. Taking him out was pure luck, my 1010 to his JJ. Lucky 10 on the flop put him away. I'm sure his Mom got a phone call crying. Plite was stagnant last night. Looked like he couldn't get the cards to play. I think it was BillyB in a tough 4th position. Always sucks to go out 4th. The rest of the match was all nice and friendly play. Thanx all, great time.

(iconian's followup: none, i have to call my mom and ask)

Week 2 write up by Lylac Crazy

First off, I forgot about the game. I finished a sit and go a little after 9 and was just looking around. I logged in the game like 7 minutes after 9. GP was already over 2k in chips. 2 hands in, from when I showed up, GP takes out ahnil8er and goes to 4500 chips that quick. I think ony 12 people were playing. I got to slow play a pair of bullets with 2 people raising to take a few chips early. As usual things were pretty slow for a while. A10 was hot for a few hands and put out chessmany3k. Bogey went out pretty early taken out by RL. We end up at the final table without any excitement going on. At the final table there were some nice bad beats. Trip Q's losing to a st8 for one. My favorite bad beat was my 4 10's beating Mav's full boat. Some tight playing and GP is down to 700 chips after that kick-ass start. GP was down for long with a nice win to 1700 in one hand. Still 8 players going even. Finally when down to 4 GP calls icons allin-- 22 agains QQ. Leaves GP with 170 chips. P lite takes him out next hand. P lite loses to icon and puts icon at 15k to my 4400. I kept going all in and icon kept folding letting me get up to 7k or so. Turning point was 67 to me, a2 to icon. 577 on flop, checked - icon bets it. Just called for fun next cards were 43 and he goes allin. I thought i just had the trips. I gave me all the money and I had to look again. I had the higher str8. Really fun, long night. Thanx guys

Week 1 writeup (by - iconian for billB)

This week is full of pocket Aces and suckouts. Rl007 had aces twice, Big John had them twice in 3 hands, one of which knocked me out. The Big John proceeded to suckout a few times on people hitting 3 outers on river. Rl007 cashed again but cannot win. He thinks he is cursed and PS is againts him, i think he is sniffing glue. Overall i didn't see much of the early table, but p-lite went out very fast with ak and flopping kings againts a set of rl's.
Lylac got down a lot in the beginning and had push a few times to survive, he got back to 3k chips and on a raise by a10 and a call by hewhoroams, he pushed, hewhoroams called with a8. JJ stood. Just before break i had 78 suited in BB, a10 raised, i called flop gave me open ended straight, a10 bet into me and i read him having 2 overs, i pushed and he had low pair, giving me 14x2 outs. I hit straight on turn. Then i got card dead for while. In the end Billb cleaned out then hewhorams to pickup 1st bounty, giantpeach got a10mech to pickup second one. Final 3 were quick, bill pushed with aj, rl007 called with 88. Ace on turn to seal it. Heads up between father and son (and my smartass comments), wasn't that long. Bill was 1st down but by pushing a few times he got back into cheap lead. Big john then pushed in a hand where Bill called and while being ahead, Bigjohn sucked out on river. Few hands later Bill got the lead again and pushed with a5 suited , John called with kq suited. a5 survived. DONE!~

How Points are Awarded:

This spreadsheet uses the PokerStars TLB ranking formula. I've modified it to give points to every player that plays each week, not just the top 15%. That rewards participation more than average finish. It therefore encourages folks to show up every week and have a good time.

The formula used to determine the total points awarded to a player for any given tournament is:

Points = 10 * [sqrt(n)/sqrt(k)] * [1+log(b+0.25)]

Where:
n is the number of entrants
k is the place of finish (k=1 for the first-place finisher, and so on)
b is the buy-in amount in dollars (excluding PS administrative fee).[/QUOTE]

Icon - Are you going to let me in this week or should I beg the password from someone else?

I PROMISE I'll abide by the five minute rule... or even a two minute rule.

You forgetting me last week was understandable; but two weeks in a row. Frown

Thanks, wasn't sure if I was blabbing on a bit, but it was kind of helpful to go through and review some of the decisions I made too.

Hope to you see you tomorrow night at the table
