Haha, well, I know what you guys mean, but like I said I am not condoning it nor against it. My bf knows all about my chatting/posting addiction on SD and I tell him about Clivefrog every once in a while along with Arj, Qaid, Wanker, daisee, etc....

But I really don't judge what Frog tells his gf. She barely knows that he chats on SD as much as he does, so I would understand if it would be weird to bring up people from the site. That's all I am saying.
You're right. It's not your issue. You have only your bf to answer to. And I'm not judging either...I know I say things my dh wouldn't like. Big Grin I just don't understand froggy's reasoning on the facebook is okay, but sd isn't...Huh That one's weird to me. And he acts all innocent...whatever. Stick Out Tongue

The way my friends view it, it's normal to meet people through facebook because site is for the specific purpose of networking. They meet people through facebook all the time and it's all cool. Whereas, SD is a deal site and, to them, it isn't for social networking here. My bf thinks SD lounge is a pointless forum because no one here has a common goal, we don't even talk about deals here. He says we just "post smilies and jokes" the whole time. He's part of a biker forum, so, to him, because there's a common interest, it's a social network site.

That may be different btw telling someone you social network on SD instead of FB. It's much more of a norm for people to understand the concept of FB. Most people have never even hear of SD, so it's hard for them to grasp the idea of it.

My friends all think it's weird for me to be chatting on SD. They all mock and make fun of me, and I just explain to them that it's a place where everyone waste their boring work hours on, since there's always a constant string of posts.

Huh...I think just the opposite. No one's on my facebook that I'm not fairly good friends with (one or two rare exceptions). If dh has some random girl on his Facebook, I'm asking questions.

He chats with people in a forum, no biggie. I would get a little curious about what they were chatting about, though... Whistling

Yea, that's kinda what I mean. Since one would expect people to know their fb contacts more so over forum people, it would make it easier for one to understand when her bf greets a stranger IRL.

This whole thing started because I didn't say hi to froggy when I met him. I didn't say hi because I know his gf would find it weird that he knows someone from SD enough for that person to recognize frog IRL. Whereas he was saying it would be easier understood if he told her I am from FB since she would expect he knew me better than a random stranger.

You know what I mean???

Imagine if a girl came up to your dh IRL and he explained to you she's from a forum. Isn't it more suspicious than if he said it's friend from fb?

It would seem like there could be something going on if the stranger was from a forum rather than a friend from fb.

No, we're talking about avoiding saying you met someone on SD and telling people you met them on FB is more normal and less suspicious and weird.

The fact that you automatically jump to 'suspiciousness' means that you're worried about her knowing how you talk to each other, imo.

I just asked my husband this...which would he think was weirder/which would bother him more: some random guy coming up to me and me saying I knew him from a) Facebook or b) SD. He said Facebook would be waaay weirder and that would really bother him.

LoL, no. I am not jumping to anything. I am not worry about her knowing. I have nothing to hide to her. I have nothing to hide to my bf.

I am simply saying it would be hard to explain to her that froggy knows me from SD. And froggy said he can tell her it was FB.

Like you said, you would be "curious" about what your dh talk about with any certain girl on a forum. And you expect people on his FB to be good friends. You would be way more curious if your husband starts greeting a person whom he said he knows on a forum because you would expect that person to be a stranger.
