It's a great way to get started in the Hue ecosystem.
I could be wrong (I'm in the researching stage myself), but I thought that you need a hub like Wink or Samsung Smartthings for the Hue to work with Alexa. You have to have the Hue bridge too, but that is just so you can control the light from your phone. The Wink or Smartthings hub is what allows for Voice control through Alexa. Like I said I'm not 100% confident, but after reading a lot that's my understanding of how it works.
Nope, you only need hue bridge and you can control with Alexa or Google Home or Siri (if hub is second gen or greater)
