What does "age of majority (sometimes abbreviated as AoM+) in your state or province" mean?
The age of majority is the threshold of adulthood as it is conceptualized in law. It is the chronological moment when children legally assume majority control over their persons and their actions and decisions, thereby terminating the legal control and legal responsibilities of their parents over and for them.

In most U.S. states, the age of majority is 18, except for Nebraska and Alabama (19), and Mississippi (21). The age of majority in American Samoa and Puerto Rico is 14.

You know you're a sweeper when.....
The prize includes a gift card, a hotel stay (no transportation, no meals, no tips, no travel allowance), and a consultation with a bridal expert (I'm not engaged, but that wasn't one of the requirements to enter). I really just want the gift card ($4K). From the rules, "If Winner elects not to receive any portion of the Prize, that portion will not be awarded and will be forfeited." So, that looks like I can request just that portion, right? That was my understanding, otherwise I wouldn't have continued to enter. The email provided a phone number if I have any questions, but wanted to run this by you experts, first.
What if I want to keep the option open for the trip (I could end up winning airfare), what will happen if take it in 2014 or if I don't take it at all? The rules state, "Advance reservation is required and must be booked by December 31, 2013. Winner will be provided a certificate for resort stay; the certificate will provide instructions for making resort arrangements. Winner must make resort arrangements in accordance with instructions provided on the certificate. Resort stay must be completed by December 1, 2014, or the resort portion of the Prize will be forfeited and no additional compensation will be provided."
If I take the trip in 2014, or if I don't take the trip at all, but don't decline it when I send in the affidavit, what will happen with the 1099? They will send the $4K gift card within a month, so I know the 1099 for that portion will be for 2013; my concern is whether they'll include the resort stay on the 1099 for 2013. Would it be best to just decline that portion right now, or is that something I should discuss with them? Any experience with this type of multi-year prize?
