Can anyone give me some HELPFUL advice on how to sell my Baldwin baby grand piano without going through a dealer who is going to take half of what it sells for?

Also, you can donate it and make it a tax write off for the full price of the piano. Since you will probably sell it for a fraction of the full price, it may come out even.........with less headache trying to sell it.

And making a few thousand dollars is often worth some headache.

That's the rub. It depends on how much hassle OP wants to go through for whatever extra $$ they expect to receive. No different than trying to sell a used car, really, except there's actually a market for used cars.
What's something like this worth, anyway?
