I can't believe this just hit FP as I just had the worst experience ever with this item and HF. I purchased this same refurbed unit in October for $639.99, it arrived with dents in the tank and the electrical cord near the switch was severed and repaired with electrical tape. I emailed Product Support and after a month they had the shipping company pick it up and they sent another refurbed unit. This time it was missing parts and the oil inside was milky brown like it was left out in the rain and of course there was no top cap where you put the oil in. This unit also had some deep scratches on the tank so I emailed Product Support and asked for a third and they said they were clean out of stock and that they would give me a full credit including the freight delivery. This was literally 3 weeks ago at this point and I just received the credit yesterday after almost 4 months. Now they are selling this for $159 when they literally couldn't supply a replacement to me 3 weeks ago? Someone is either getting the two units I returned or a ton of people had the same experience I did.

You've been warned.

Yeah and the only place it says this, as far as I can tell, is at the very bottom of the description in small font.

Thanks for the heads up, I now see that it says Factory reconditioned (I didn't know that HF sold reconditioned stuff on their site). I still think that this is a really great deal. You cannot even find an air compressor this size used for this cheap. I have updated the original post.

At this price and since it is reconditioned, I highly doubt it, but you can always check and report back with your findings.....Even if they did, they would be sold very quickly.

Don't compare the two, they're different brands. The more expensive one has much better reviews. You're better off buying from Home depot or Lowes if you're going the expensive route.

They are both Harbor Freight brands, they are likely EXACTLY the same, just the Chicago Pheumatic is their new brand name. Also, most 60gallon compressors in the sub $1000 range are nearly identical, Husky, Kobalt, Porter Cable, etc.

This is well worth the price.

I've been saving for an IR SS5L5 [tractorsupply.com] and while it is 18.1 CFM @ 90 PSI it is quite a bit more money. I also have more faith in an Ingersoll Rand lasting forever but this price point is compelling.

You should edit the title to reflect that this is used/reconditioned.
