I can't believe this just hit FP as I just had the worst experience ever with this item and HF. I purchased this same refurbed unit in October for $639.99, it arrived with dents in the tank and the electrical cord near the switch was severed and repaired with electrical tape. I emailed Product Support and after a month they had the shipping company pick it up and they sent another refurbed unit. This time it was missing parts and the oil inside was milky brown like it was left out in the rain and of course there was no top cap where you put the oil in. This unit also had some deep scratches on the tank so I emailed Product Support and asked for a third and they said they were clean out of stock and that they would give me a full credit including the freight delivery. This was literally 3 weeks ago at this point and I just received the credit yesterday after almost 4 months. Now they are selling this for $159 when they literally couldn't supply a replacement to me 3 weeks ago? Someone is either getting the two units I returned or a ton of people had the same experience I did.

You've been warned.

Yeah, really starting to eat into it. I have the means to go pick one up for free, or technically a couple gallons of gas.

Adding $230 for delivery really hurts.
Attempting to get it delivered to work then I can hoist it out of the truck but yea, a new single stage with somewhat similar specs is around $500.

Edit: I was wrong the walmart one is $510 online ($450 my store) has worse specs, so it makes it decent still, just a lot of dough for harbor freight. 11.8/10.3 CFM at 40/90 PSI https://www.walmart.com/ip/Campbe...n/35336353

Not sure how that works. I could have them deliver to work where I have access to a forklift, but if the truck shows up with the liftgate it isn't like it costs them less to let you pull it off with a forklift. Hell they may not allow it.

From what I read if they don't use their lift then you shouldn't get charged, I would guess they would call and set something up prior to showing as well, I read you can go have them load it into your vehicle at a terminal as well.. that all varies by the company though.

LIFT-GATE CHARGES
If you do not have the equipment to offload certain overweight items from the delivery truck, a truck with a lift gate must be assigned for delivery of your order and additional charges will apply. The lift-gate charge covers the cost of this special delivery. A freight company usually contacts you 24-48 hours prior to delivery to make lift-gate arrangements. Please assure your order has a valid daytime phone number, or voicemail box set-up. If you have questions, you may contact Customer Service at 1-800-444-3353, Monday thru Saturday, 5am to 9pm (PT); Sunday, 6am to 6pm (PT).

Nice try Slickdeals, you have tricked me into buying 3 air compressors already - I will not be had again.

(although none of them have been this nice...)
But this one could replace at least 2 of them, keeping one that's more portable and this one.

The compressor I was going to buy is the 21 Gal, 2.5 HP, 125 PSI Central Pneumatic that goes on sale frequently for the same price as this one at $160

http://www.harborfreight.com/21-g...61454.html

Is there any reason to go with this much bigger compressor for general home use (general automotive work, cutoff wheel, etc.)?

It looks like there is a local HF with this in stock so they would be the same price for me since no shipping would be involved.

The deal hunter in me says get the 60 Gal but I'm wondering if I'm better off with something smaller and lighter.
I am just getting into the air tools (beside my nail guns) seems like if this is the price and you have room to fit it it worth it. from sand blasting to plasma cutting....lots of uses.

Wow! It isn't even February and I just got the best deal of the year. Snacks! Great deal!

I should say that I spent two weeks trying to buy this thing used off of Craigslist for $300 but I couldn't get a truck during the seller's free time. Now I find this factory-refurbished for less!

Noice!

Already have a very nice 80-gallon 2-stage compressor, but almost tempted to buy this as a spare.

Was just about to pull the trigger and realized that this requires 220V. Anyone have a ballpark idea on how much that will cost to add to a garage?

depends on what you have. do you have a power panel in the garage. if you do the electrical your self vs electrician. finished walls or open....

Keep in mind that's discounted from the refurb price!

The price for NEW is $789.

edit: shipping for me is $96 ...

edit: what are the wiring requirements? 220V?
220 is easy to add in most garages. it's single phase so you literally just install a breaker of the appropriate amperage and the correct gauge wire for that current. many are 20a making a very simple install

A few hundred to over a grand depending on what your needs are and how your home/garage is already wired.

My shop has it's own line directly from the pole (where the meter is) so if I didn't have 220 I could pay someone a few hundred to run the 10ft from the pole to my garage and then install a panel (if needed).
I would do all this myself, but you should at least have guidance from an electrician, usually only costs a 12pack haha.
