Mint SIM is running a promotion with CNET [cnet.com] and offering 20% off all of their 6-month and 12-month prepaid plans. Plans can be purchased from Mint SIM [mintsim.com] with coupon code SHOPCLEVER.

Some example deals (these prices include tax and shipping to California so they may be slightly different for you):
  • 12 months service, unlimited talk/text + 2GB LTE data - $166.67 ($13.89 per month)
  • 12 months service, unlimited talk/text + 5GB LTE data - $246.67 ($20.56 per month)
  • 12 months service, unlimited talk/text + 10GB LTE data - $326.67 ($27.22 per month)
To answer some questions that will likely come up:

Which network does Mint SIM use?
T-Mobile.

Which phones work with Mint SIM?
Any unlocked phone that supports T-Mobile's network should be fine.

Can I stock up on SIM cards at this price and just activate them as needed?
No - Mint SIM's website says "All Sims purchased must be activated within 45 days of purchase."

What if I buy 12 months of service and then Mint SIM goes out of business?
Then you lose your remaining months of service. However Mint SIM is a subsidiary of Ultra Mobile (an MVNO that has been around for several years), so they're not some new, unknown company.

Does Mint SIM support conditional call forwarding, for use with Google Voice?
Yes, posts on various forums have confirmed that this works.
If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

The deal is STILL ACTIVE. "Shopclever" at checkout gets you 20% off 6 & 12-month plans

PLEASE EMAIL MINTSIM @ [email protected] if you run into any issue, they will respond eventually. Do not call them it will go to voice msg as the call center is totally overrun by the amount of ppl calling in(or they have no staff that answers it), and ultra mobile use different call center which maynot be able to help with Mintsim situation at all

Regulatory Recovery Fee will represent a 1-3% cost on top of monthly airtime charges.

If you are porting from Ring+ and using phones that were originally from Boost, Virgin and/Sprint. Do not expect it to work because Sprint use CDMA network while MintSIM(T-mobile use GSM network)

Mint = T-Mobile Service (However Mint don't offer voice/data roaming to AT&T; T-Mobile offer roaming via AT&T in some rural areas with no T-mobile coverage)
Please be aware that mint uses T-Mobile service. Use OpenSignal (Phone app or website) to check if T-mobile has a strong coverage in your area (work / home).

RESPONSE from UNowhereSpamhole: If you have a phone that supports TMo's LTE Band 12, then coverage will be much better. Band 12 is on a much lower frequency than their other bands and thus goes farther and penetrates buildings better. Also, even if that doesn't work, some phones support TMo's WiFi calling. Failing that, virtually ANY phone can use Google Voice and Hangouts to effectively do the same as WiFi calling.

****MINT SIM ANY GOOD???****
- Tmobile coverage.
- Data speed 20Mbps (Mint sim).
- Mobile hotpsot enable.

- No Phone/Chat Customer Support if any issues, just email.

****PORTING FROM RINGPLUS/ CARRIERS TO MINT SIM****
1. Get the 11 digit activation code on the back side of sim card.
2. https://my.mintsim.com/activation
3. Enter the activation code.
4. You will have 2 options:
-New number
-Transfer an existing number.
5. Enter your RP number-->Account number= same as phone number without dash--> PIN code from ringplus--> Your ZIP CODE.

-->Take about 5-15 minutes for porting to be completed. or over 25 days (my experience)
-->Insert the sim into your unlocked GSM phone.
-->Configure Your Data and MMS Settings
-->If you chose to get a new number initially, there is no way to port in unless you get a new plan

https://www.mintsim.com/data-mms-settings to configure your device's data and MMS settings.

If you want to keep your old number - DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, CANCEL YOUR PHONE SERVICE ON YOUR OLD NUMBER UNTIL IT IS FULLY PORTED AND WORKING ON YOUR NEW LINE. Canceling your account prior to port completion simply releases your number to your canceled vendor for reuse. Porting your number cancels your old account - make sure you don't hit ETF.
Ting have a good article about carrier porting information: https://help.ting.com/hc/en-us/ar...nformation

****HOW LONG WILL MINT SIM LAST????****
-->It is own and operate under Ultra mobile which exist for quite some time.
laugh out loudlaugh out loudlaugh out loud

Cons:
1.They can cancel your service any time for any reason. MintSim TOS:
No Refunds for Cancellation or Termination of Pre-Paid Service Plans. You may cancel or we may terminate any Service plan that you purchase from us at any time.
2. No visual voice mail support.
3. No SMS short code support. (These may be working now, see Twitter post from Mintsim: https://twitter.com/_MintSim/stat...8665968640)
4. They purposely hide account number. Customer MUST call (catch their CS rep if you can...) to get your account number.
5. No customer service except through email. They respond then close your ticket regardless if your problem is resolved. Try to call and you get put on hold and then told to leave a voicemail. They don't call back.
6. They keep sending Simcards with invalid activation codes.

PSA on how to get your account information for Mint Sim.

Call 611, which takes you through an automated customer service line for Ultra Mobile. Verify your phone number by dialing 1 and then keying in your number. After your number has been verified, you dial 5 and you're account number and pin will be texted to you.
* Automated customer service is no longer available for MinstSim customers

FYI these work like T-Mobile for data. Its unlimited but throttled after the plan's LTE allotment is used. So the 5GB one is equivalent to the T-Mobile/walmart $30 plan. Seems like a great deal to me.
I really, really want to like Mint Sim, but right now they are completely screwing me. I activated a 3-month 2 GB plan with them 11 days ago. My service worked for a week and then was disabled. Tried calling support around 10 times. No agent is ever available. I can only communicate over email. Fast forward to now, 4 days later, and still no service. I tried calling my number yesterday and some random guy picks up who just got that number 3 days ago. So now I'm without service and my number is gone. Can't imagine how much longer I'm going to be out of service. However, my wife's service is still working fine.

Bottom line is that the service is great and the price is right when it works, but if there's an error in their system, buckle up because it's gonna be a wild ride!
resets every month.
you get a text at the start of your new month letting you know your data usage has been reset

I have two new T-Mobile prepaid phones (LG Aristo and Samsung On5) that I am thinking of activating with Mint SIM for family members. Will these phones work with Mint SIM? Or does it have to be unlocked first?

MNC – 260 Authentication Type – (leave blank)
APN Type – default,supl,mms
MCC – 310

I had my UpRoam balance (about $9) mysteriously disappeared from my account after renewing. Contacted the customer support and they claimed that I have used up my balance yet can not provide any of my call history. BEWARE..

Just wanted to give everybody a heads up that their "unlimited" is bullshit.

Ive been having issues with Mint for weeks now where im hitting their max quota for texting. Its something like 3000 messages a month.

I text all day long for work and just friends. Once you hit that limit, you can no receive texts or send them at all.

I have called and talked to their support and they are worthless. They "reinstate" my account, but only add the max number of messages they are allowed to which is something like 1500 additional messages. Once you hit that, it blocks you again.

Okay, I'm going for it. All in for 12 months for both of my kids. We are currently on AT&T and paying just a bit more per kid, but they're using up all my data. I keep telling them that I'm going to turn off their data after 2GB, but I never remember to check until I get the friendly reminder that we just blew through our allotted data.
Now, they'll get 2GB each, and it appears that it drops to 2G after that. That should be enough to at least keep iMessages flowing.

I've got their iPhone 6 carrier unlocked, so should be all set.
