Safety warning: The issue is that that type of sand can have high lead levels. Best to go with the non-leaded sand if it's for your kids.

You have to agitate the debris then vacuum, if you or anyone is thinking about using quickrete playsand make sure to wash it several times otherwise your water will be ridiculously cloudy.
