seeing as you are looking at buying a refurbished t6i i am assuming you are on a tight budget, if you can afford it get a sigma 17-50 f2.8 solid lens at a bargain price.

A FF body + appropriate lenses weighs considerably more than the crop equivalent...a big factor IMHO for hiking trips with the wife and small kid. (Your wife and small kid may be more accommodating...

Nope, EF-S (crop) bodies only. That said, I used this on a SL1 for a family trip out to Zion, Bryce, Grand Canyon...loved the results. (I didn't want to haul a FF body + 16-35 while chasing the wife...

I have this lens and love it!! You need 2 lenses. This one and Sigma 18-250 and be set for life!! Sig is a tad too much $$$ but well worth it! If you are on a budget.....get a Canon T3I and ride...
