Yes, I use a Ringke Fusion Case and it works fine with my s8+. Also on my phone it shows fast charging. From 15% it takes about 2 hours. I use it overnight so it's always fully charged by morning...

I did similar to move the metal plate upper half and it charged but got hotter than usual, at some point it just stopped and flashing a message saying charging paused at about 70%.
