This actually is a 1440p monitor with a max. resolution of 2560 x 1440 ... So I'm not quite sure what you're getting at. ​

2560x1440 is colloquially called 2k or 1440p. Whether that's the official term or not, it's common.

Freesync range is 40-144hz for displayport, 23-144hz for HDMI. And this is IPS 1440p. Seems like a good deal if you use AMD cards.

$400 for a 1920x1080p monitor is pretty expensive. Would be a decent deal if this was 2560x1440p.

His problem is that 2k is a completely different resolution than what you're implying it is. Your title is fake news. I think 2k is 2048x1080, much like 4K is actually 4096x2160.
