Get a router that supports one of the linux distros (openwrt/ddwrt/etc) and you might be able to, just depends on how good that non-existent linux support is.

Aluminum foil does work. Another option is to get some ferrite chokes and stick them on both ends of the cable, might help, I always take them off of cords I'm throwing away if they are removable...

Probably not as it would require specific drivers to work. If your player has an Ethernet port, you can buy a wireless bridge to make it work I believe.
