It does have gsync. I have GTX 970 as well, I play mainly Overwatch and with a few (useless) settings lowered I can do practically consistent 165+ fps.

Samsung makes the CF791 which already gets 100hz and it's a 1440p ultrawide or the Microboard M340CLZ which either I have seen for under $700. (Check out Linus's review of the microboard)

Depends on the game, but if you turn down detail levels you should be able to keep framerate up. Nice thing is the fps dips are less jarring with gsync.
