yeah if you crack it and take it back, they'll give you a refund. IMO though, you'll have a really hard time cracking these with one exception - the lid outer edge which if in extreme cold...

If I recall correctly, the bins with diamond lids are stronger. I believe you can also get them at Sears under the Craftsman brand with a red top.

Price difference? Heavy duty clear bins are much more expensive. Cheaper clear bins are brittle.

Straw is the preferred bedding for outdoor cat shelters as it's less likely than a blanket (or hay) to retain moisture...and the air spaces in the hay itself help to retain heat. HTH!
