I don't really understand the use... For plunging, where a cut can't start at the edge, I drill a hole and use a Jig saw... Been doing that for outlet / lighting cuttings on full sized Plywood / OSB...

No saw with a 3-1/8" blade will cut a 2x4. The rk3440k has a cutting depth of 1-1/16". Both saws are 4-amp and both look the same to me. But admittedly I did not spend too much time comparing them.

I have that saw and uses it more than my bigger circular saw. You should just use a utility knife to cut sheetrock. I would not recommend using this saw for it.
