I have a few inches of black screen to the top and both sides.. anyone else experiencing this? I'm losing 1.5 inches or so because of this, and worst of all.. it doesn't look as sleek.

Curved is definitely more immersive. You also have to consider viewing angles (at the sides) on flat monitors whereas it isn't an issue with curved.
