I use the dock to play my switch on a different tv easily. I don't need another console so would rather pay $55 than $300. I'd imagine others have no use for a second console as well.

Same here - it’s still money saved and if you don’t have a use for a second system you can spent the money elsewhere. I got a second dock and spent the “savings” on a PS4 :)
