This is definitely a working deal it started in November and I can verify One Hulu account per Sprint customer. Credentials can be shared and two devices can stream simultaneously on that account.

It does work for the free plan, but you need to call sprint to get it to work. I was offered it when I got the free BYOD plan but I declined because sprint service is terrible.

You have to be off wi-fi and on the Sprint network ONLY for initial set-up of your sprint-sponsored Hulu account. After that, you can watch on wi-fi or off wi-fi.
