Playing MQA tracks on a non MQA dac sounds bad. I have tried this a first gen Dragonfly. Normal Tidal tracks sounds better.

Check out Deezer for streaming. They also have hifi. I've had apple and tidal(which I hated). Currently have a spotify and deezer subscription.

Agreed. This is what annoys me about Tidal. Their main page are all rap music. If you go click the top hits, they're all rap. Its like an oxymoron. Do we really need MQA processing for rap music...

My data consumption on my phone went way up when I was streaming Tidal HIFI in my car vs my normal Spotify 320k streaming. I stopped streaming Tidal when I'm driving.

I have HD 6XX and a JDS Labs Element amp and imo Spotify premium sounds better than Google Play. Tidal obviously sounds the best if you use their lossless audio but I'm not paying $20/month for it.

My point is that you were wasting your data on the hi fi music anyway, even if you were playing in ideal conditions. But you can set your music to lower quality when you're in the car.
