I don't know. I've had an under $50 Cuisinart for a couple of years and it's still working fine. I don't understand how an expensive grinder can make coffee that much better. .

Only reason to get this over the encore is for espresso. The encore can do a great range of grind and perfectly even. Only espresso is finicky enough for the 150+ grinders. Just my opinion though.
