urlhasbeenblocked Zigbee bulbs need a hub. Hubs aren't bad if you have more than one bulb; they allow greater range and less congestion for your and every other close WiFi network.

People are saying they won’t work as smart bulbs without the hub. Sure they’ll turn on at the switch but they can’t be controlled via an app or device without the hub.

No they do not. I'm not sure why everyone keeps saying they do. I actually own these light bulbs and I've used them without the smart hub. They'll just work like regular light bulbs. They turn on...

Yes, they require a smart hub if you wish to control them from from a phone. You can get away with a dimmer switch but you will have limited functionality.
