Same thing here. I was considering the 6xx, but the X2's sound close to the HD600's. So I guess I'll ask: X2's or HD600/6xx vs the HE400i ???

I would also like to know this. It seems that to get a real upgrade from the Fidelio X2's you gotta go really high end.

Oh, and the 58x have less bass, way more midbass and crispy treble, and need less of an amp but still do best with one.

Sennheiser themselves confirmed it, though how much is unconfirmed. I wouldn’t expect it to reach Philips X2 or HD 599 levels of bass, but it should feel more natural.

I beg to differ. The sennheisers are widely known for their clamping force that bothers many. This should be noted. I have the hd6xx/650 and can tolerate it with a big head but I dislike it still and...

I own a pair of HD650's that I got from a guy who owned a bunch if these. He said the HE-4XX, which seems to be somewhere between HE-400S and 400i, sounds very similar to the 650 but a little harsher...
