Not unless your screen has holes in it. You put it in the window, but leave your screen in behind it. Tiny gnats could get in I suppose, but not any different from having your windows open.

I grabbed one in store yesterday and was really surprised how much cooler this made my room vs the box fan that was sitting 6" from the window. I've been thinking of going back for another.
