Typically quiet garage door openers are DC motors vs loud AC motors. The belt drive just improves any clanking you would hear from a chain

I have a screw drive and a chain drive. The screw drive is very quiet, the chain drive is normal loudness. Haven't tried a belt drive yet, but it should be very quiet: much quieter than a chain....
