Basically manufacturers are keeping the cost down by cutting battery when newer power efficient tech comes out. I would expect 4-5 hours run time or so.

Instead of cells, look for the Watt Hour rating of Laptop batteries as that indicates the total capacity.

I absolutely agree. These days, when you can boot from any USB key or SD card, the DVDrom is obsolete. I actually don't have any DVDs and don't see myself using one in the future.
