look on Craigslist. I just grabbed an olympic 300lb set with bar for $300...looking for these type bars now but this doesn't look like a good long term plan if you are serious about working out.

The cheap ones are huge vinyl weights filled with sand prone to cracking and leaking if used hard, Tubes with end caps used for handles and crappy clamp collars that secure the weights that can slide...

I've had this for over 7 years now and pleased with the material. I havent seen any crack or damage on it yet. I'd prefer this than the steel because it's much quieter.

It seems to me you can only fit 2 big plates on each end, so you can do the math based on how heavy those plates are.

I think you got hosed depending on brand. I got a 300 lb Olympic set from dicks for 135$ not long ago. They often have it around that price. Brand new.

Trash the set from Amazon for $25 on sale was better I got two sets aswell so I can combine them. Normal price is $35 which still ain't bad. Much better set
