You can check reviews on YouTube for this HP Pavilion 14 review. The reviews are pretty positive. And Blanket statements like that nobody is happy with their HP laptop is a completely misleading...

this has integrated intel graphics, so you won't want that for anything game-related. at/around 700 you can get a laptop with an nvidia 1050 which will handle games much better.

I don't think anything is available at this price point which is better. The direct competition is from Asus Vivobook F series which offers an Ultrathin and light 15.6" model with same spec but 1TB...

If you can find one, you will be able to add it :) Normally standard DDR4 max size available is 16GB and since the laptop has two slots, it will take 16GB x 2 = 32GB.
