I've bought about half a dozen cables from anker, micro usb and usb c and they last a long time and when they do fail their 18 month warranty is excellent. I usually wait until about 3 stop working...

They will work, but at limited speeds like the rest of the USB-C to A cables. These do have 56k resistor of course, being Anker, and are safe. Charging speed is limited by the switch to 5V/1.5A...
