Wow, I just bought this model with ryzen 7 1700, 16gb ddr4, rx 550, and 1tb hdd for $650 @ costco, but this blows it away. And if the 30% using Samsung Pay pans out($100 max), this will end up...

The Rx580 is about on par with the 1060. The 1070 TI is on a different level from it

I think this would do the trick.

The only downside is the DDR4-2666 single-channel slow 16GB memory module. This will negatively impact performance. If you want to take full advantage of the Ryzen 7 you'll have to upgrade to...

So nice to see capable computers at this price point, I think back then computers at this price point would be non dedicated graphics card or the cheapest dedicated videocard

First gen is 1700, not 2700. I bought the Dell with the 580 and the VR headset last year with the 1700

I have a nearly identical setup from Dell outlet (i5-8400) to the HP Ryzen 5 here, for the identical price. So the big question, would you choose Dell XPS or HP Pavillion (all else being equal)? ...

I just pretty much built this exact set up except with a RX580 8GB for ~$650. I had to use refurb parts and such though. This is pretty slick.

with a 2700 ... yes only thing with this build is do not try to overclock, and probably pick up a new psu honestly I am pretty impressed... this is something that I would say is good for...

You should be able to, though the OS is tied to the motherboard and I assume installed on the 128gb SSD. You'd need to transfer the OS onto an installed drive on the system or risk losing the OS...

Depends on how many ports it carries. I have the RX 550 in a similar HP system and it has one DVI, one HDMI, and one Display Port. I expect this system to be similar.

$60 is around 8%, so maybe that's what they're offering for desktops? Monitors are one area I'm not currently versed in, i have a pair of 27" 1080p TN panels but they're mid range at best, great...

In my experience, not at all. Just google HP PC freeze, and look at all of the comments, or try HP problems...you will see. I had to build my Mom a computer, after buying an HP that worked for...

Same here. Looks like the price is back up? I just tried pricing a build with the same components or as close as I could and even going cheap on a lot of them I still ended up at approximately $900....

Yeah, I think it depends on the build. If you buy a base non-gaming system it will include the onboard video. They probably cut costs by removing it on systems with dedicated gpu. HPs documentation...

Thanks makes sense. Bummer the PSU and motherboard are stuck as they seem to be the weakest points I'd look to upgrade down the road or so I thought

Good idea and I was thinking of going that route but this being my first build (which I am capable) it's just a lot of work. How much more performance vs the amount of time and effort? That is what...
