Do you have a light or exhaust fan switch? If so, you could install a new outlet below th switch box and use its source from the circuit.

you can run a line from the light switch from the other side, usually a closet. That's what i done and so well worth it

It could be your light switch that is causing that. Also, technically I think it's supposed to be protected by GFCI for safety. Perhaps that's what you used.

It was thoroughly cleaned, but remember - can't use any bleach or disinfectants on these, just soap and water. As even then, it was one hell of an awkward return!
