This 1700 will probably have similar multi-core performance but much faster single core performance. You'd also need to buy new ram (ddr4).

the ripjaws module should be able run at the same speed with the increased voltage and timings of the team kit. But some people prefer just setting xmp, just comes down preference really.

Similar situation here only with a 1600X OC'd and zero problems with games. I always updated the BIOS as firmware was released but never had any performance issues.
