Thanks for the info. This is a MAX XR (battery) model as well, just not brushless and with a 4.0 Ah battery. From what I've seen, the battery/charger itself is worth the $99 but I may be wrong.

Yep - up until this, all their trimmers were brushless. Just a way for Dewalt to save some money while allowing retailers to sell an inferior product to unsuspecting consumers at a lower price.
