There is no way you were getting 1gbps wireless backhaul on this and also connected to it wirelessly. Wired backhaul frees up the antennas/channels for devices so it is absolutely better than wifi...

In case those are wondering, the m5 has two more antennas and offers a backhaul. Unfortunately, reviews on the m4 seem to be non-existant. At the same price, I would stick with the m5.

is it true that tplink deco mesh systems fall back to wired backhaul (from ethernet backhaul) if you have a guest network? Users reported this issue back in 2018. Was any firmware fix pushed for this?
