If you buy more then 1 and put it in a mesh it should be better. If you buy one to use as a router then you are downgrading.

I'd prefer the TPLINK as it has 13 antennas vs the 7 in the ASUS. As far as the USB drive.. I don't think it does anything (low charging/service port) It does have 2 Ethernet ports.
