Usually the directions on paint with primer say that you can basically use the paint as a primer. I.e. if you have a stain on the wall, you 'prime' the spot with the paint, let it dry, then paint...

I normally use the Sherwin Williams colors, but have Lowes mix them into Olympic One Paint bases. Saves a ton of money when buying 5 gallon buckets...even more so when they're running their rebates....

I've only used emerald on walls, but it was fabulous. I painted over orange with gray and had zero issues not using a separate primer. But cabinets are different.

I did my cabinets with 2 coats BIN primer and 2 coats emerald urethane. They are holding up pretty good and look nice. The urethane white shouldn't yellow like the oil based paints do.

I've SW Emerald and BJ Aura and don't recommend these top-end paints unless you work fast and in sections with cutting then paint. Generally don't cut the entire room (which takes me 2-3 hours)...

You are welcome, most are primer and paint but, on emerald I highly recommend a primer by itself now if you are going to tint the top coat ask the S-W employee to tint your primer 75% of the color...
