This is a good deal, but I buy my electronics on craigslist.

It's their proprietary charging/docking port. Low profile, magnetically attached. Really nice except for the fact everyone else has gone USB-C.

I'm really waffling on this one. I have had a surface pro 4 I loved for the past four years and am now looking for a laptop (I honestly never used the tablet functionality of the pro) with at least...

I agree. There are several vendors offering older discontinued models of laptops at a discount. They are making more on this laptop margin wise than the newer models. I would look for something like...

On rare occasion I have checked Craigslist. I see mostly way overpriced machines. Maybe some of the buyers are not savvy. They want higher than ebay, and in many cases higher than what a new product...

I can see how you would say that. But that's not my experience.

Most 8th generation U-series processors are quad-core. They have the same 15W TDP as the older dual-core models. You may be thinking of Y-series processors which are rated for 5W and are all only...

You can also charge via USB C on the Surface Laptop and it does USB-PD to make it almost as fast as the proprietary charger

But I read that SL 3’s SSD is a special model that isn’t easy to find elsewhere.

Well, that would be because this isn't a tablet at all- You're referring to the Surface Pro. This is the Surface Laptop, which has no tablet functionality.

Yeah it's confusing. Particularly with the new Surface X and Surface Go... Starting to look like Dell lineups. Not a good thing

Well, I did say it was a good deal. That was a comment. Also, I think craigslists provides a good platform for buying, think of it as a retailer recommendation.

Gahhhhh, your right! I totally didn't realize this!

I have had good experiences on craigslists.

A 10th gen i5 is far cheaper and superior to this 7th gen i7. The ram and GBs is another story.

Craigslist = random stolen stuff. Not worth it
Post #132875042 added 12-02-2019 11:30 AM by athishsr in Deal Talk
Is this recommended for a 7th gen processor?
Post #132885410 added 12-02-2019 1:28 PM by ssiemonsma in Deal Talk
This is only a dual-core processor. I personally would not buy this for that reason alone. Virtually all of the 8th generation and later processors are quad-core and significantly more capable.

Edit: it was pointed out this is the laptop not surface pro. I have surface pro with same specs and find it works well for most everything I need.

Why not getting the 3rd gen Surface Laptop i5-8G-128GB for $899 or 256GB for $999? Unless you desperately needed 16G RAM and 1T SSD...

Per Newegg spec it doesn't list that as a port. It just lists 4 total ports. USB 3.0, Mini DisplayPort, Surface Connect, 3.5 mm headphone jack

Just an OK deal - 512GB version being sold on Amazon by 3P sellers for $925 regular price. So for $25 more than reg price you're going up to 1TB SSD. $800-$850 would put this in really good deal...

Also worth keeping in mind is the Laptop 3 has SSD upgrade options for the first time.
Post #132900644 added 12-02-2019 4:58 PM by sadude in Deal Talk
Does this laptop have a usb-c port? Or do you need buying a new surface connector to usb-c cable?
Post #132900677 added 12-02-2019 4:59 PM by sadude in Deal Talk
I thought that was only the surface X?
Post #132954590 added 12-03-2019 1:45 PM by oreganotrail in Deal Talk
Oh I didn't know they made those upgrades. I just assumed they were always dual core haha. Too bad I don't need to upgrade for another few years yet. Lots of good deals this year.

I don't think the sl1 does. The SL3 does though

isn't the whole point of the U series to have low power dual core processors that maintain a longer lasting battery life?
